Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Well it's not going so good here. Right in the middle of a fight to save my wife from cancer. K5 build has been on hold, but I try to keep at it when I can. I did get three refurbished shocks mounted this weekend. Makes for good therapy to keep my mind off of stuff. Got a few pic's!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's alot nobolt! Got crazy tonight after work and yanked the original radiater out of the K5!Am wanting to start the body mount replacements so I am starting in the front. This is kind of a prototype setup as I have a new core support and a new 4 row radiator ready to go in. Unbelievably the radiater drain cock came loose and I pulled the whole setup with minimal mess. Set the old radiater outside in the rain to wash off! Have to leave for Chicago on Sunday to the cancer treatment of America for round two of the wife's chemo,-- but had to get some therapy for myself-and man did it feel good!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Worked on the drivers side rear shock mount today. Got the easy rivet ground/drilled out. The other two rivets are really hard to get to, as I got some grinding done on them but can't get a drill into that area. Still working on the radiator support body bushings. Looks like I need to drill out the bushing holes on the core support just a bit to be able to fit in the new bushings/sleeves. Had a good day on the river today with the wife, and we head off to the third chemo session on thursday. Gotta get this K5 mobile soon and take her for a ride!!!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Got back from Chicago yesterday and started working on the radiator core mounts again. Got the drivers side mount in today, was a real pain to get lined up. One side down, one to go! Got a couple pic's!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
I've been wrestling the body mounts on my blue Blazer - no fun.
Hope the treatments are helping. Best wishes for a complete response.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Neither of these pictures look correct... There isn't supposed to be rubber on top. Its the bolt with the square washer goes through the metal of the radiator support. The round bushing between the radiator support and the frame. The sleeve goes in there too. UNDER the frame is the triangle mount with the larger end at the frame. Then a round washer and nut on the bottom of the small end of the triangle bushing....

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
What mcm said is correct way. As with the rest of the body mounts as well. If you didn the rest like you did the core it needs to be redone.

Got the passenger side done today. Also reinstalled the radiator and coolant. Repainted the radiator and all the areas around the mounts. Fired her up and bled all the air out, should be good to go! On to mount #2!!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Glad to hear your wife is doing better. Keep it up a little at a time and you'll be able to take her for a ride soon. A ride in a blazer with the top off is a fantastic experience!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Yes sir, thank's VA. The wife is doing better and that is my plan-to take her wheelin again. We have a big benefit coming up this saturday to raise funds for the treatment costs. We live in a small town, but there is a lot of great people willing to help. It sure was great to see her smile when I fired the K5 back up yesterday!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
After getting the K5 fired back up last weekend, I decided I needed to replace the old Accell plug wires from the 80's. So, I ordered up a set from Jegs tonight, should get them in a couple days!

Had the benefit last saturday and it was awesome. Pig roast, auction, etc! Had such a amazing turnout from this small town, we were blown away! Wife wants to proceed with our annual family camping trip this week starting saturday. Sure wish I had the K5 ready for a little trail riding-maybe next year!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Well off topic again, but just got back from the camping trip. Had a great week, and got to hang with all our kids and their friends. Wife is holding up well, and we head back to Chicago on thursday for another treatment. This time she gets all the scans to see what is changing-praying the results are good! Here's some pic's of our fun, hope we get to do it again together next year!
