Update: after removing the compression coupling I noticed that the bottom shaft was only inserted like 1/4" of an inch instead of like an 1 1/4" glad I took it all apart, by inserting it in fully that lowered the interfering bolt out of the way of the spark plug wire and switching to a shorter bolt fixed the problem. As far as the angle I also noticed that my steering column sags about an inch at the firewall opening, so I must devise a proper lower steering column bracket, looking for ideas/advice? looks like this Ididit beauty is just what the doctor ordered: Last edited by Gregski; 07-18-2020 at 03:32 PM. |

Re: A '54 named Busty
huh I found one of those column clamps in a box of parts I bought and used it on a 41 chevy truck, they are handy! I had no idea where it came from.
you could always just get some bluetooth cordless spark plug wires!

Re: A '54 named Busty
having fixed our steering column spark plug wire interference problem we moved on to the pesky leaky power steering pump
it appeared the precipitation was limited to only when the vehicle was running, and the steering pump was under pressure further inspection revealed the high pressure hose adapter to the -6 AN fitting as the culprit it appears out of the 47 different adapters we were using the wrong one (imagine that) |

Re: A '54 named Busty
however in an unprecedented happenstance we happened to have the proper one in our drawer of everything you have except what you need
please don't ask me what the different adapter / fittings are called, I reserve the right to Ron Swanson this and I do not wanna know, ha ha |

First Test Drive Video post LS Swap
this is nice and gentle since I don't have any conduit on my wiring harness and don't want to risk frying any wires, and you've seen my brakes ha ha or lack there of squeaks and rattles free of charge |

Re: A '54 named Busty
thank you mate, glad I have your attention, got one pesky issue, she rubs in da front passenger side wheel when turning right but not when turning left
I think maybe the previous owner cut the coils to lower her some, not sure, but I expect nothing short of part numbers, bar codes, retailers cats names, and a multitude of suggestions on how to fix it from you, ha ha ready set go... |

Re: A '54 named Busty
Nice job dude!
Remember that all LS swaps demand obligatory burnouts. Right there in the cul de sac will be fine. Don’t be shy.

Re: A '54 named Busty
ha ha, I would but I am already on a first name basis with the HOA since the previous owners cut the tree down in our front yard, replaced bark with white rocks, and painted the side gate the wrong shade of gray without getting their permission before we even moved in, therefor I tread lightly (and keep in mind this is my third truck, so I already laid down some solid one wheel peels in da past, hee hee)
