Re: "Rice Rocket'
Not sure if I need a speedo cable or not yet. I think the end that goes onto the trans is stripped. But not sure.
Dont throw yours away usmcchevy, I'll buy it from you if I turn out needing it, thanks! I still envy your LS build

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Did you see the Holley truck?
Ok, I need help. Im trying to get my speedometer working again. Its screwed into the back of the bezel and I screwed/unscrewed/screwed it into the trans (3 spd man.) Backed thet truck up, and moved it forward it still doesnt work. Soo whats wrong? And I also sorta kinda fixed my hood (sticking way up in the back) I adj. it and it looks 'better' but not much the gaps are really close and I had to SLAM the thing to get it closed all the way... Looking at my bezel cruising down the road does make me smile though

Re: "Rice Rocket'
let me guess you un tightened all of the bolts for the hood hinges and pushed it up and then tightened it up then colsed it and your gaps were better right? i did the same thing .
2cnd the dash looks great and my dash is probably the only good looking thing in my truck lol 3rd i have no idea what would help you except maybe get a new cable |

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Haha, my grandpaw said today while riding with me to get groceries, that if only the rest of the truck looked that good
Yah, It pulled the back of the hood down, but 1 hinge the rivits are really sloppy. I didnt really 'fix' it, I just made it a little better, now I cant close it without jumping up and putting my fat butt on it to close it

Re: "Rice Rocket'
have you checked the drive and driven gears in the trans? the driven gear is broke on mine thats why my speedo don't work. Take the cable loose at the trans and spin it with your fingers while somebody looks at the speedo it should move some if it does your problem is probably somewhere else

Re: "Rice Rocket'
another place to start with your speedo is...
remove your bezel again, leave your speedo cable out where you can see it, drive around and see if the cable spins, if yes, then stick a small flat-tip bit in a CORDLESS (you want it to turn slow) drill and spin the back or your speedo to verify the speedo itself is bad. if no, remove the cable from the adapter on the trans, use a small flat-tip screwdriver to see if the drive spins (if it does the problem is in your tranny) You can hook your speedo back up and use a chordless drill again with the transmission end chucked LIGHTLY and run it to see if the cable is not broken. Usually if the cable is broken, tugging on each end will pull out half of the broken cable. Hope I didnt confuse you. Something to note... your speedo will only work spinning it CCW from the back... the same way the needle travels, you can spin it CW from the back but it will not do anything.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
before you replace the bulbs bend the little tabs out a bit and make sure the copper contacts on the printed board are clean...
