Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
I'm a little wired when it comes to ornaments, trim, and emblems, I don't care for them except on certain cars. On certain cars they are needed like the tri5 chevys especially the 56 belaire I love that trim but I can live without the hood emblems. Mine will be gone the next time I rebuild my car. I like the smooth look.
I like the 57 truck grill I know a lot of people don't but I do like it better than the 55-56, but I like the 55-56 hood better because of the smoothness of it. The 57 grill is different and very cool in my opinion. That said it also depends on the theme of the truck. I've seen the rockets, visors, and the emblems installed on truck and I love the look because it fit the theme of the truck so perfectly. Last edited by Kabwe; 07-09-2012 at 01:11 PM. |

I only used it as a guide line. Yeah my instructions said the same as yours, but I always just tacked the unit in, put the upper and lower a arms on, install the spindle, rotor, and wheels, and used a floor jack in the center of the cross member so that I could put the truck at ride height (the lower a arms parallel to the ground) and put a fender on to see how I liked it. I ended up moving it forward I forgot how much. I don't ever go by instructions alone, I believe mockup is everything. Last edited by Kabwe; 11-01-2012 at 07:16 PM. |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
I am using 55 front fenders that mock up was done before I got the 55 front clip. But I am starting to see some 58-59 I really like lately.lol But I have to have my twins.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Once you tack everything in get you floor jack under the crossmember and jack it up until the a arms are parallel with the floor. then measure from the lower a-arms mounting holes to the top of the shock hat and cut your tubing. You can weld a bolt to the top of the tubing and drill a hole at the bottom of the tubing for mounting.

Hows everything going? Man I don't quite know what rediator I'm going to run yet. I think I'm just going to buy an aluminum crossflow and make it work. I never gave into peer pressure when I was a kid and the great thing about being adult is I find it easier not to listen to peer pressure. I have a 55 210 and when looking for a truck I was looking for a 55-56 to build a twin. The 55-57 trucks are my personal favorite and always will be. I've seen some really nice 58-59 but it still hasn't changed my opinion of which truck I like the best. I knew when I bought my truck it would have many mods and one happens to be 55-56 front clip. If I wanted a 58-59 I would have built one, case closed. Last edited by Kabwe; 07-16-2012 at 10:03 AM. |
