a call i had been hoping to hear came today.

dang. this looks nice. the manifold is coated inside and out. inside coating is a specific insulcoat.





here is a team picture. thanks to all that suggested the DP get coated as well. i totally agree now.... haha



it will look a little less grey when i get the comp housings and center cartridges in. they will be black.

i kind of gambled on the color. they didnt have any samples when i picked it, but as always this shop does great work, and the gamble was a pay off. i like black, but i was afraid if everything under the hood was black it would all start to disappear. this color goes well with the raw aluminum stuff and stays in the grey/black color palette but isnt another layer of black.

it is 518 medium green. i think the 503 code was about the same thing, just earlier on the timeline.

needed to support my air compressor. the factory cummins stuff was far to bulky to fit. i designed something a little sleeker.

it was a dumb move to skip this step while the engine was out.

did this one the hard way.





bolted in. more flash photography exposed painting skillz



one bolt goes in front to back, the other back to front. nice and tight without any loss of support.

Nice work Ryan! I love that coating as well. I wish I would have done that to mine now. I may have to start as the paint just doesn't look as nice as long as that should. That comp mount looks nice. The stock ones for sure are bulky.

this has been on my list for a while. it was easy to ignore, but i finally got it checked off.



the gusset for the upper PH mount.

and the filler plate for the upper bag mounts.



i also made an adapter out of some scrap i had collected. gotta get some more use out of this engine stand...





i knew there was a demon in this trans when i bought it. it was priced at a fair or low core price, so all is well. you can see the busted teeth on the direct counter gear. the fluid is sparkly and the input is all ground up.



i finally ordered this nest of copper.





i will start the process of routing and planning on what i need where and all that. i still have many pieces of the electrical puzzle left to buy so it will be a slow game.

Very nice! Hurry up on the harness install. I need to do mine as well. The input being junk works out in your favor as you'll be getting a big cryo'd one anyway. Are you planning on adding the cast tail housing or leaving the aluminum one?

i guess i will decide on the tail housing before i finish it. i flop back and forth a lot.

this all started because i need a place to mount a bunch of relays and extra wiring BS. then i decided to make these...

it is a power steering reservoir. i still need to stick a return bung in it.



and this is the recovery can for the coolant.



back to work on the electrical stuff as soon as my box of supplies arrives.

i ordered some some dodge grid heater relays from rock auto.



this was the reason i had the aluminum off the rack to start with. it is a landing pad for relays and fused power.

i tucked the grid relays under it.



the relays will be here someday, and i will make a forth leg for it also

I recently had to build a engine cradle for my damaged 7.3 PSD and thought about your HD engine stand. I used some left over heavy wall 4"x6" tubing that had been used to ship a header.

yeah, that stand is big and always in the way, but it never fails to be impressive. haha. i have a transmission hanging on it now and it looks like an elephant holding a mouse. ha.

id be happy to show it off whenever i get it done!...

there are a few different circuits that draw higher amperage than the AAW harness accounts for. the fuel solenoid pull in is one, i will set up the headlights on relays even though the lights i will use are not going to require the amperage. i want air horns, so i will have a relay for the valve on those. the a/c compressor will have a relay. the grid relay control circuit may well get one as well. i have a few spare relays as well for whatever i need that i haven't thought of. probably relocate the horn relay to the panel as well.

the power feed to the AAW harness is a singe 12ga wire. i get a little nervous about letting that single wire handle all of the power for several of the circuits that are required. so, ill use the interior fuse panel as a the fused control circuits for the relays that will have a separate source of fused power than the AAW harness. some of it will likely be overkill, but i really dont like the idea of burned down electrical. every time i sit down i think of another thing i will need to power up. there are several other things that will be fine running off the AAW harness, but i wanted to be safe for the ones that are heavy draw, or that i felt like shouldn't be taxing the power feed to the harness. the panel gives me an easy place to do all and access handily.

it'll have a cover and be reasonably sealed when its done also so it will keep stuff high and tight.

The biggest reason I ordered an AAW harness for the Horn was because of the first time I tried cranking my truck. The factory harness couldn't handle the load and went up in smoke. Not cool. :LOL:

you may have noticed the PS res was hanging by one screw. the flange has a 3/8" rivnut in it. i was set up to pop the other two and the second one ruined my day. maybe the 5th nut the damn thing ever set and it busted.



the pull handle is cracked up by the spindle thingy.



jeez.

so i took it as a lesson. no 3/8" rivnuts, even though the tool is advertised to use them.

i bought a wrench operated tool to do the big inserts. i replaced the gun as well but will only use it for the smaller fasteners i guess.





so i finally got the res mounted solidly.

i stuck a fitting on to see how good my guess was. cleared the elec. panel just dandy.



i also fit my hood latch finally.



the filler piece is once continuous piece from side to side. seems to be plenty rigid.

i need to figure out what i am doing for a condenser. so far this is the trimming i have done.
