Drastic differance. In like it. Nothing like a clean motor in the bay.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Installed new green glass, weather-stripping and rebuilt vent window on passenger side. My stainless trim was in good enough shape for a daily driver.

Now I see why people buy new ones or get rebuilt from RogerKoop. They were a PITA but turned out nyce. One more to go.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Found out had a vacuum leak, and it wasnt brake booster or pcv... P.O.E. determined intake was at fault. Pulled it and this is what I found... Its funny how the saying "hindsight is 20/20." Rings so true. I'm new to everything as far as putting together an engine goes.the gasket did last a month I must say. I have since learned the correct way of installing an intake on a rebuilt motor. And now am pulling a steady 19.5hg straight from intake. also lowered my idle from 1,000 down to about 600. Oil change was due, also regapped plugs. Next on the list is upjet my Q-jet. And reseal the rear end. Other than that. I'm happy to say the "mechanical part" is taken care of. Next is "cosmetics". let's see how deep the rabbit hole goes......

All gasket mfgs should never be including that cheap ass rubber gasket for the front or rear intake manifold for Chevy engines. It's been that way for way too dang long. It's always just better to toss that damn thing in the floor & just to put down a bead of silicone and never look back.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I showed it off today to a contractor who needed to store some tools in my garage. He was immediately impressed with it, even though it's up on blocks! That might help motivate me to get back on it as soon as I have the time.

Well I got the brakes al swapped out. It didn't go as smooth as I had hope but I gotter done!
The original booster and master cylinder was all standard fittings, the new one was all metric fittings. Had to put new lines down to the a arm also.
While I was doing it I went a head and swapped the rear rubber hose tee out for the stainless one I've had now for over a year.
Everything is tight with no leaks so far. Going for a short ride and check everything again.
Had to use the old valve since the brake switch wouldn't fit the new one. I may order one if I can find one. O-Reilly's didn't have it and couldn't order it.
If anybody has a lead on one LMK.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
