Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Looking really good!
Can you put a window a/c unit in? I have a large unit for a 1200sqft space I got at Lowe’s about 10 years ago and every summer I stick in in the garage window. I have a large four car garage and put a big fan in front of the a/c unit To push the cold air further inside and it takes 10 or 15 degrees off the temp. I could put another one on the other end of the garage and it would probably get cold in there! I know your shop is much larger but 96 is brutal! Just a thought...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Thanks Dale..Scott
Scott, I had a window unit I tried a couple yrs ago, and unless you stood right in front of it you couldnt tell any difference...my biggest issue is the useless insulation that I have...I think if I get that issue taken care of itll help more than anything..

Looking better than good, looking great.
I hear you on heat and humidity. It puts a damper on me every summer.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Not really much of a update..just getting a few minutes here and there..
Installed the trans tunnel...what a job that was ..all the orig clips were screwed up, so I would up using socket head countersunk bolts with nuts and washers under the truck Not a 1 man job, but I got it done Got the heater box and control cables installed and ran the heater hoses ..I used a old air heater bypass valve. The old control valve is inside the heater box..I installed this one under the hood..so itll be easier to service if needed..I was disappointed I couldnt find one in all brass..this one is plastic..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Also finally got a block of time when it wasnt 99 deg to try out the new black widow HTE paint gun..
1st impressions are this is a very nice gun..I resprayed the hood and radiator support..each coat I put down looked very slick..so it should take only minimal sanding and buffing...hopefully this time i won't burn thru the paint..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
thanks Regan and Dale....
but just my luck...sometime last night between lights out and dry paint, about a half dozen bugs decided to land in my wet hood paint...1 of them was the size of a VW ...they all decided to do the backstroke in my paint..dont know if thatll sand out or not..its pretty bad... it doesnt show in the 2nd pic but one of them left a 6in trail behind him..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Well...I finally got up enough nerve/gumption/courage to try and wet sand the doodle bug leavings outta my newly painted hood...
I'm not sure how much paint I removed, but I got 90% of the 4 worst spots out..I reckon they was breaking their legs off in the paint while they was doing their thang...as I was sanding you could feel bug parts roll up under the sandpaper everytime I went across his mess...I'll have to get it out in the sun where i can see it good....I'm not sure how many paint layers I've got till i hit primer...this being the 2nd goaround for paint on the hood, I may be ok..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Ugh. Bugs were terrible at my place this weekend too.
Just keep going slow, you'll get them out. Also, don't forget, if there's holes, etc, from their feet, you can try to blip in a little dab of paint and wet sand that out. I found a big paint chip on my Mustang's headlight bucket this weekend, two eraser size chunks side by side missing. Not sure what hit it, I guess a rock, but there wasn't any ding damage. I'll fill them in and eventually forget about them...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Yea, she's gotten a bunch over the last 35-40K miles, yes, it's actually been driven that much. I just fill em in and smooth 'em out best I can.
The FIRST DAY I had it, I took Jena for a ride, it had lap belts, she opened the door and dropped the belt latch right on the top of the rocker and took a good 3/8" chunk out of the paint. Been touching it up ever since Then just last week I took a friend for a ride and he flung my 3 point belt right into the top of the painted door (inside). Just have to accept it...

ouch...that's kinda the way I look at my C30...I got quoted $7k to paint just the cab...I said screw that and painted it in the driveway for under $300...I think about how much less it hurts when I hear a rock bounce of it
