Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Trim dilemma... Couldn't you just measure up from the top edge of your trim on the bottom? If you can locate the lower molding via body line, you should be able to line up the top trim with an even measurement from the molding that you can place on the doors. That should give you a correct measurement for the whole truck shouldn't it? Maybe you just have to be there to see it. By the way, how's the headliner coming?

What keeps water from going down that opening and into the cab?
No flap, just gravity and diverters for the water. It is like a curb around the opening and my plastic overhead piece.

I'm just not 100% certain the top trim stays level. The body line and the bottom trim move up in the front and don't line up - but the wheel opening separates them so you don't really notice. Since my reference changes, I feel safer putting it all together and pulling a string to line it up.

No headway on the headliner yet.

did you ever end up using any of the green truck for the build, or is it still on one piece?

This green truck is where my perfect bed came from. I sold the truck with a replacement bed to a guy in Kentucky.

I am making preparations to go to the Pigeon Forge Spring Grand Rod Run. A research trip if you will. Does that count for anything?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I have been doing a little more research on my engine and found a Car Craft article about the best flowing exhaust manifolds for LS engines.

http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles.../photo_03.html

I don't want headers for many reasons - cost, heat, noise, poor quality, etc. and after reading this article I am totally sold on these 2004 -2006 GTO LS1 manifolds. The article calls them Corvette manifolds, but is wrong if you look at the ones pictured - they do mention once they are from a GTO. Anyway, they are within 3 or 4 HP and torque of headers, and 9 HP and Torque better than the next best factory exhaust manifold, Camaro style. I am sure the truck ones I have are probably a little worse than that. I'm on the hunt now for some GTO take offs. Maybe $30 to $50 bucks. Way less than headers and nearly the same performance. Hoping they will fit.

Looks like I may have to do my exhaust a third time! It won't be too bad though.

Looks like there may be major engine mount/frame interference issues. Have you looked into the TBSS manifolds? Seem like they'd be a better fit.

Yes, I am a little worried they may not work, but I am really interested in trying.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Drew, I have a set of the GTO manifolds, 04-06 I believe. I'm not proof positive on the fit but I've seen a set in one of these trucks. They're just holding the floor down right now...and I'd love to have a part that came from my stash on this truck!

PM me if you're interested.
