Oh yeah!

Been busy lately with school work and spending all my free time fishing and working on other peoples cars but I spent some time today and got a second coat of paint of the drivers side inner fender, turned out great! Once it's dried I'll get it mounted on the truck. Seemed kinda strange to me how the metal near the bottom came from the factory so wrinkled, but since it's just an inner fender I figured there's no sense in wasting time perfecting it.

Re: Nik's 62 build
This winter just seems to be never ending, here we are into March and it's still snowing. After I took this picture on Monday it snowed another 6 inches, but luckily it's melting fast.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Luckily the sun came out and melted almost all of the snow, so Yesterday I finished polishing up the drivers inner fender and got it bolted up, also messed around a bit with some wiring.

I also cleaned up and painted the heater core valve, and cleaned the hoses and clamps.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Nik, you really are an example to most of us.
Just chipping away at it bit by bit. Fenders look great. If you had a pic of that and one of the same space when you started, next to each other, you would be shocked at just how much progress you have made. Well done.

Yesterday I went on a parts hunt again and came back with a few neat items I got from a 61 one ton cab, one of them was a choke cable assembly, here it is.[/QUOTE]
I thought I gave you a choke cable a few months ago...

That one was seized up solid, I could not get it to move, plus the inner cable was cut too short. I still have it if you have any need for it. Quote:
Yesterday I brought the hood hindges and springs into the school shop to paint, I got them mounted on the inner fenders and bolted the hood on so I don't need to tarp the truck off anymore. Last edited by 62stepside longbox; 03-09-2017 at 09:21 PM. |

Re: Nik's 62 build
I just put the 62 hood on for now as the 60 hood still needs some rust repair, but it will go on later down the road.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Haha! I can't wait!
Thanks Doug, my high school offers a program called "dual credit", with this program I would finish all of my mandatory courses during the first half of my grade 12 year so that I would go to the college for the second semester. As far as what college program I'll take I'm not entirely sure yet, I'm strongly leaning towards aircraft maintenance engineering, but welding or heavy duty mechanics is a possibility as well. It will be doing donuts before you know it! Quote:
Got a little time today to paint up and install the master cylinder, made the cover the same colour as the engine block, looks way better than plain old bare metal and it shouldn't rust now. Also cleaned up the wiring by putting it into a braided loom and securing it to the inner fender.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Got some time to cut the inner fender and bend the ps low pressure line so it fits. I'll be getting new hoses as these are old and leaky but this was more of just a test to see if bending the stock ones will work

Re: Nik's 62 build
Also managed to use the brake lines from the 78 with some slight bending, I'll be bolting the proportioning block on to the crossmember or frame. I also installed the trumpet horn, really looks good in there!
