Hi Ian, I bought 2 repop fenders and I have to say I'm not that impressed with them. Overall they are OK and I will get them to fit but there are wholes that have to be opened out and even some in the wrong places. And the front end inserts are not welded in correctly. I'm not going to bother drilling them out and rewilding, I'll live with it, because the metal is much thinner than the originals and I'll end up blowing holes in it and doing the bodywork I was trying to avoid by buying them in the first place.

Mine came from Brothers and so far I am happy with them, but time will tell when I start assembling the rest of the front end . I just didn't want patch panels possibly rusting , after spending all the time it takes doing the painting

At least I did have space inside to work on the cab but I know what you mean about having to work outside once its on the chassis. I'm off come Friday for two weeks. My first task is to put a proper roof over that "carport" I built last year and then extend the roof of the garage over to meet it. At least that will keep the rain off.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well no truck time last weekend

The reason was fellow truck guy Pete in Brighton has been married for 25 years . To celebrate this Pete and his wife Ria had there vows renewed.

So Saturday morning myself and Sally headed to Brighton on the south coast , my job for the day was to drive Pete's truck from the church to the reception , as he had driven it there and was traveling back to the reception in the Cadillac with Ria

Pulling away in the truck , the first time for Sally traveling in a Classic Chevy

The wedding car

The happy couple

Handing back the keys to the truck to Pete

Pete happy to have his truck back

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Another short, but in my view, necessary update, report, call it what you may.

This Internet has put so many of us in touch with each other, furthered hobbies, friendships etc.

When I bought my Chevy C10 one of the forums I started to frequent was a dedicated truck forum, for all Chevy trucks. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/index.php

On here I along with other people around the world, but specifically in the UK got to meet Dale who was a creative, and driven petrol head and builder. Always supportive, full of advice and gentle, generous and kind in his friendship.

His last amazing build:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=655167

Dale was a Quadroplegic since 1984 after a Motor Vehicle Accident but none of that ever stopped him pursuing any of his hobbies.
As his girls said, he was the tallest man they ever knew, despite never seeing him walk.

Sadly, he died on the 10th of November and those that knew him, lost a great friend and mentor.

Today a parcel was delivered, he and his daughter were collecting very personalised pieces for myself, Ian Brown and Mate Martin who all have C10 trucks in restoration process, included were Ontario plates for 1964, '65 and '66
Thenparcel had been sent to Ian, who then redirected the contents here in the UK.
After his death, his wife and daughter fulfilled one of his wishes, to send out to us the pieces they collected, along with hand written notes from both ladies.

This is incredibly touching and humbling.

It again restores faith in mankind.

I have a new fridge magnet that will hold a significant place in my kitchen and home.

I feel honoured, along with Ian and Martin, to have known Dale.

RIP Friend.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well as for the truck I have ordered one of these so I can get on with the cab .

Once it arrives I will mount wheels onto it so I will be able to move the cab about . That way over the winter months l will be able to carry on working on the chassis . I need to get my brake lines and exhaust finished off . Thanks to Dennis and Rian I should have a set of rear shoes on his return to the UK .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Hi Ian yes I have restarted working on My truck .
With the upstairs of my house all done now , and the weather getting better I started working back on it .

I have got the passenger side sorted . I just need to sort out the drivers side , pictures to follow .

In the meantime due to the heavy rain we had lately , my bedsides were in the carport and the boxes they were in were soaked . So today Sally helped me get the bed assembled.

After getting the bedsides fitted the first thing I wanted to check was the ride height .

So as I was tiding up Max came out for a picture .

So more updates soon . It's good to be back working on the truck . These pattern bedsides fit great .

Great Martin... fantastic to see you back on your truck. What a difference throwing on a couple of bedsides can make. Motorvation, no doubt.
We will be tuned in over here wishing you and all the Brits well.

Always good to see what you are up to Martin. Truck is looking mighty fine.

My truck gets a little attention here and there and then something else comes along that needs doing.

There are a lot of these old trucks being updated at varying speeds of progress.
