Yup that's not a bad idea.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

I was going through some pictures and came across my first 1950 GMC. I bought it out of a field up north for $400 about 16 years ago. It was so rotten when I pulled the cab off the floor fell out. I kept some of the parts (like the front bumper is now my rear bumper) anything worth keeping and scrapped the rest. Now that I know more I wish I kept more of it, but live and learn.

Ya I agree!! I wish I kept it, but at the time I had no idea where to get parts or info on these trucks. I kick myself all the time about it.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Found something interesting for the air ride world. Not cheap but would make for a real clean install.

That is an impressive concept. My obvious concern would be failure of the seal and a long term evaluation would be interesting.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

I'v been seeing this and the Flo ride systems all over IG. its the new "mobwheels" of the industry. everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. It does make for some clean install. I like the concept and I'm sure it will hold up, if it doesn't I'm sure they can fix the problems. This design is just hitting the market and alot of folks are already jumping on them.

It is modular so you just need to fix the broken part.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

So I'm back from a vacation, we took my 2 boys to Varadero Cuba. They had never been anywhere before, They had a blast!! This is a great place to go, people are so friendly and the old cars driving around are amazing, most are diesel of some type. I'll just show you guys some of the cars and trucks. This was my 3rd time there and now have a good understanding that Cubans make Macgyver look like child's play. All the vehicles are used daily.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

On our way to Havana the car lost most of it's power and idled like poop. Turns out it cracked an injection line 4 out of 5 got us there. I told my family you go look around I'm staying here to help fix it! After we walked around for a bit we took the owners other Belair. It had a diesel and 5 on the tree!! wtf cool. After lunch they had the 55 fixed with a piece of brake line for an injector line and we where off again. It was a amazing day.
1 showing me broken line
2 how to mount Mercedes diesel in Belair
3&4 lunch Belair
5 Any one know what rear end this car had?

Re: My 52 GMC Build

That sure looks like a Toyota non-USA floater. I had one from an Aussie FJ60 Land Cruiser in my FJ40 LC but those were 6 lug (offset differential.) All of the Toyota trucks/LC's and other variations are offered with full floaters pretty much everywhere other than North America and the 2wd versions would be 5 lug. From the early 80's to 90 (or so) the 2wd 1 ton was also available in the US as a SRW 5 lug and DRW 6 lug.

Sound quite possible as they get most of there parts from non USA country's.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

love the mercedes diesel, I love weirdo swaps like that. I bought a 300SD with that engine, 5 cylinder turbo diesel. it was a locomotive on the highway just pulled and pulled but the turbo lag meant when you were pulling from a side street to a busy street you better plan very carefully, 0-20 takes longer than 20-100!

Re: My 52 GMC Build

very cool. I watched a few episodes of a tv show called cuban rides or something. it was basically a hotrod type show of the cubans getting their rides ready. insane what they got to deal with. like even welding gas there is hard to come by. I luv the time warp and I hope it stays that way to some degree. Would suck to see them get flooded with new cars and forget about the old ones.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

99toLife,
I've seen some show Cuban chrome or something. It was awesome to see how they hunt down parts and make whatever they have work, MBZ in a chevy, whatever.

Very resourceful

Very cool! I could definitely fit in down there I guess. Nice vacation. I saw the cuban chrome show too and had the same thoughts. They really have to be resourceful down there.
