Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I'm back from leading our church's family mission trip to Mexico. We had 43 on the team and built 4 houses for 4 very deserving families. It was very rewarding, but also very exhausting.

Sounds like a great trip. If you have as much talent building houses as you do building trucks, I'm sure those families were very blessed by your work. Props to you for putting your skills to work for the kingdom.

Awesome! I've gone to Mexico on one mission trip to pour concrete floors and three to build ecological latrines. Always an amazing time! And the people there are the nicest you'll meet anywhere.

Yes, they are always so appreciative and friendly.

No work on the truck this week because we are leading the youth group on an inner city mission trip here in Memphis. Summers get very busy for me.

So where are the pictures of the truck? What's the status of the bodywork?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

The inner city mission trip I am on is working on fixing the roofs of the poor. On 1 of the job sites in town is a 1956 pickup. 1 of the other teams gave me a heads up so I'll try to take a picture today.

Just a few of the neighborhood finds.

Check the Corvette rear in the '56. It was heavily customized in the late 70's.

I can understand the Corvette rear, but why put a square peg in a round hole. The headlights I'm talking about.

Reminiscent of Corvette Summer (70s Car Movie)?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Drew, you do inspirational work both in contracting and truck building. I am taking lessons here as a TN builder (Knoxville), a Christian, and a Chevy fan. I am going through some real tribulations right now and have found this thread amazingly uplifting and energizing. Thank you for sharing with us all!

Very Glad to be a help.

Here are some inspirational photos - sorry I haven't been able to work on my truck.

First pic is an abandoned typical home that the family moves out of and into the new house we build for them. Yep, a tarp and dirt floor.
This little brother and sister needed a bath to get rid of the fleas that were jumping off of them.
A pic of one of the 4 houses we built, on dedication day. We built this 320 sq ft house in 4 days - no plumbing of course. They'll get an outhouse over a pit in the ground.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Your house looks great. Did one last year in the same style, but in red Hardiboard, black trim, with all the braces, trims to bling it up. I forgot about that post way back when, now its my turn to get some work around my house done.

Awesome mission work, I may have to use my other talents and take a trip with my Church on the next building project they go on, must be very fulfilling .
