Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

My 89 Silverado that I just purchased, 5.7 / TBI / 700R4 and some nice additions, has a 2.0 shackle drop.

Decided that I wanted the old school look with the tires / rims but I am saving the coin for some 18" Boss 338's.

Sorry for the cell phone pics, they really don't do it justice.

Nice truck, but it doesn't look dropped at all to me. It might have some drop shackles in the back, but that's it.

I think you are correct but the 2WD trucks are not my forte, I have owned multiple Chevy 4WD's over the years and to me, all the new terminology and tech with the 2WD platform is all Greek to me.

That was one of my main reasons for coming here in an attempt to learn and network, enabling me to be better informed on the various areas of subject matter.

I took a couple of pictures of the rear suspension, the shackle is there to accomplish the lower but the stock perch is there, the frame has also been C-Notched.

Regarding the front suspension, it appears to be stock upper and lower arms, possibly the stock spring as well and I am unsure if the coil has had some cut from its overall stock configuration.

Front / rear wheel-well lip height with 295/50/15's is 31.0 & 32.5 respectively.

Perhaps you or other members can provide some additional possibilities / input for me, I am very receptive to the expansion of my knowledge in this area.

FWIW the truck rides great and I was quite surprised at the smoothness with the non stock components.

Thanks in advance for any direction or input provided.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

The notch would be unnecessary with just the shackles...so there were probably hangers and a flip kit on it at some point. Somebody probably took it off to sell the truck.

Fast 95, that's a thing of beauty I have a K&N Xstream filter-top breather like yours; it was definitely a better look than the stock intake.

Yeah, you have drop shackles on it, but that's it. It looks like a previous owner had a 4/6 drop on it since it's c-notched, but put it back up to stock height. Since you say you have 295/50 tires, I can guarantee it's all stock besides shackles since my truck looked the same way with the same tires and just shackles.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Good deal and thanks for the input, heard many talk of going a little more than a 2/4 as they would often report that it simply wasn't enough of a difference to them in the end.

I would like it a little lower and will eventually go to an 18" rim but don't want to kill the ride and would rather drop it with a proven suppliers equipment.

Is it possible to do this with an 18" combo, as in having your cake and eating it to?

Probably should post in another section to keep this one on track, nothing like a newbie hijacking a thread. LOL

Much thanks for the input.

Absolutely it's possible! With your current wheel/tire combo, a 2/4 is about as low as you could go without rubbing the fenders. But once you get your 18s, you can do a 4/6 or 5/7 and still have a very good ride with the benefit of better handling as well.

Stick with good companies like BellTech, DJM, Western Chassis and McGaughy's and you'll be fine.

At all costs avoid AIM/ChassisTech/Truckn.com

I'm wondering where you got the black and red bowtie on your grill center, I want one of those for my black truck.

It was on the truck when I got it, but I think it's a bowtie from Sport/454SS trucks, available through LMC or someplace like that.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Project 4.3 SS painted all but hood..waiting for a new cowl hood

I used dupont chromobase base/clear..so color matching it will be no problem.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

color is 1992 Corvette/Camaro Purple Haze Metallic

It is a different color that is kind of rare..My rollback is the same color
I painted it in 1994 and just now started to fade on the hood.

275/60/15 BFG T/A's are going on it this week..lower/wider dont hurt.

also going to drop 2 in front 4 in back..

Slick truck! The wheel and tire combo and the color really make it stand out, even with the usually boring W/T grille. I like it!
