Still have my first one I bought in 67! I spend too much time over here, because of all the good folks that have helped me with this new addiction for trucks, just like the one I had for Corvettes

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Love the art deco trucks. Mine is a bit newer than yours, a 56 taskforce series but yes I have installed a 496 big block and a 540 Alison transmission.
The first thing you should consider is the brakes. Keep in mind when built they never expected these trucks to run over 50 mph. The next hurtle you will in counter is the steering box will surely be in the way. The 4L80 is a great plan as these trucks are extremely low geared and unless you swap out the rear end there are no gear options available. I have most all of the problems to this big block swap worked out I will come back here and post a link to my photo bucket page for you. I also plan on starting a build page in the future. Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Hi all, new to the site. Recently got my '58 GMC as a daily driver. Needs some work, but runs good, with S/B 350, auto trans, PS, front disc brakes. Would like A/C (old man syndrome). Needs new rubber and window work too. Probably will leave the dents for now. Enjoy reading all the posts!
