Speaking from expierence working on my hotrods kept my mind straight when I went thru my divorce. I had to do something to keep me sober and out of trouble. Step back and take a breath, you have a lot of friends here and they will help you thru some tough times.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Hey Ray,

Sorry to hear about the divorce, are you afraid your going to lose the truck to your wife or are you thinking your going to have to sell it.

because you could always give it to one of your kids.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Today our 48 went for certification.

Down here in New Zealand we have an extremely comprehensive set of rules to modify vehicles within. Back in around 1991, our Government was looking at restricting our automotive freedoms, so the New Zealand Hot Rod Assn talked with Government and said they would develop some standards, and then police them on the Governments behalf.

The bunch of volunteers did a great job and we have a well established system here now.

In a nutshell, if you modify anything significant, you go to the certifier (all are hot rodders) and he/she inspects it (for about $400) and approves it and sends the paperwork off and you get a "cert plate" affixed to your vehicle. So then if you get stopped by the Police, they check your car and if its mods are in line with the cert plate, then there are no issues.

The cert for a full scratchbuilt car about $750.

So today my car goes in for its certification. It was certified for the Jag suspension and the Chev 6 about two years ago, so now the 350/700R4 conversion, plus the burstproof doorlocks and the seatbelt mounts are getting certified too.

If you want to know any more about our certification system, look here:
http://www.hotrod.org.nz/Merchandise...cal_Manual.htm

Our system has keep Government do-gooders and other interfering politicians at bay for over 20 years now. Threes even talk of it being used in some other countries where politicians think that modified vehicles are the spawn of the Devil.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Ray, sorry to read of your situation.

From other experience I can tell you theres not much to gain by worrying about stuff you cant change, and there not much to gain by worrying about stuff thats still a bunch of "maybes", "possibilities" and "what ifs"

The situation regarding your truck is like that: you worry that you may lose it, but theres a lot of water to go under the bridge before anyone talks about assets an who wants what.

So get out to the shed and enjoy working on your truck. It will help keep your mind off your situation with your wife.

Worrying never is a good thing, you can come up with 1000 solutions and when it is all said and done none apply. and in retrospect it never is as bad as you thought.

Been there, done that. Divorced from my highschool sweetheart after 20 years. Kids were I think 16 and 17 at the time. I thought I'd never get over it. I did. You will, it just FEELS like you won't right now. Give yourself time, allow yourself to grieve but don't wallow. And whatever you do, do NOT decide you're in love with the first woman that lets you in her life/bed.

My kids are 30 and 31 now and we are very close. Do right by your kids in all this, continuie to be the role model for decent and resonable, and they'll remember who did what, who said what? Best of luck.

Cleaned up and painted the VA unit. Used SEM made for plastic panels. Color matches the steering column and seat leather.
