Why do I keep torturing myself by looking at this thread? I look and see all this great progress and it kills me I’m not achieving more.

Looking great. Can’t wait to see it all together

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Thanks 67C...
Right now I'm working on the dreaded wiring , so not much worth showing...
I've got another eastwood paint gun coming to replace the one I dropped..
Then I'll have a dedicated only for primer gun, and use the widow only for paint..
When it gets here I've got to hit the doors with some more high build, and if all looks good, then paint them...then all I'll have left to paint is the cab...gonna take some doings to get it in my "paint booth"..
If that goes well then there'll be a bunch of assembly going on...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

thanks flashed..!!!..
wiring is one of my least favorite things..i chose to use American autowire kit based on a buddy thats used several of them...ill have to say ,I'm on page 2 and so far its just basic, plug one end in, pull the wire to where it goes, cut to length, and crimp on a new end ..so far its been fairly simple...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

I used an AAW kit on mine, which was my first time wiring a truck. It was just as you say. The only complicated part is that it didn't come with every connector needed so had to hope/pray I had the right one in my pile of harnesses saved from donor vehicles. Helps a lot if you use a good crimper. I started with a cheap Amazon one and decided to spring for the crimpers that AAW sells - night and day!

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Still wiring...
I'll have to say so far the American autowire kit is very easy to figure out...
even for a simple minded half wit like me...I'm about half way thru the kit so far..
No pics though..who wants to see wires..haha..
I did change a few things ..
The kit comes with a new ign switch ,but I used the orig IH ign switch so I could keep my IH keys..
The dimmer switch that came with the kit wouldnt fit the switch holder on the floorboard...there was nothing wrong with my orig d-switch,so I used that..
The orig IH headlight switch was iffy looking at best...the kit comes with a new switch but has a funky chrome pull knob on it..so I finally separated the orig knob from the old switch , so I'm gonna use that as well...
I still dont like wiring but so far no issues..

Thanks Robert , Dale

Flashed , the AA crimpers are pricey...about $85 a piece...but they sure work good...my buddy has a set of them he bought..
I cheaped out and got a pair (blue handles) from jegs for about $30...but I prefer the (red handles) pair..I've had the red handle ones for about 25yrs..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Still pulling wires...working on the light circuits now..
The truck didnt have a neutral safety switch..(old school real mans truck)..but I decided to add one while I'm rewiring ...I was gonna use a brake light switch but got worried it wouldn't carry the amps needed to crank, so I went to oreillys and went thru their book and found a clutch safety switch thatll work with the bracket I had already made...this should work good..
The brake light switch is the one in the back

Greg that thing is going to be so awesome. Snowballing on a project isn't all that bad. The end results will speak for itself and you. Great craftsmanship and execution of what was needed to be done to make it right.
