I think I'd employ a laser somehow.

Use a magnetic drill press mounted to side of frame. Drill thru two layers on one side. Then make a template or use a laser to mark other side and use drill press again on the other side.

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

think the drill press to keep it straight on through the first holes and use that hole to center the laser (maibe a gunsight calibraion laser ?) and centerpunch it on the laserpoint acros on the other side and use the drillpress again but from the inside out

either that or level the frame and make some sort of guide rail under where you need youre holes thats exactly level and at a 45 degree angle to the frame where you can mount the drill on doing it that way you can drill the holes from all 4 sides but it prolly takes a lot of time to make and set up

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

That, or drill the two inner holes, then figure out a way to project a straight line from those two to the inside of the outer wall on one side; then do the same thing on the outer wall on the other side.

No matter how you do it, I'd use a small bit, because in the end, you'll end up reaming it to make all 4 line up!

here is an idea that is pretty easy, and ends up looking pretty good as well

here is the other side mounting the skidplate thingy

i did this on my jeep to mount the trans/transfer skid. you make a fishplate with the hole size you need exactly and use a plasma or whole saw to make the holes in the frame close to what you need. then you can adjust the plates in the hole to get everything located exactly where it needs to go. i actually drilled the frame to the exact size for the sleeves but it would have been just as good to oversize the holes in the frame and adjust with the fishplates

Yup, mag-drill and a Hougen rotabroach. I would think that after you got one side done you could run your bar or a pipe through there, get it straight and locate the other hole. Isn't it just a clearance hole or does it support the bar?

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

he could do that if he cant alighn the holes , he just needs to drill them out and make fishplates

thought of a cheaper idea to the laserpointer : drill the first side put a verry good fitting 4 foot long pipe trough it to the other side sit the frame up side ways and drop a piece of heavy and good fitting roundbar with a point machined on it down the pipe , it should leave a pretty exact crater/divet for the other side to center the drill on

Your comment about using studded tires for mock-up reminded me of this article about building your own ice racing tires...

Maybe the next build?
