Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Well the truck had new tires, brake lines, master cylinder, king pin stuff, 350 motor and 350 tranny.. not must rust on cab and bed..
I may have paid to much for it but been wanting a fleetside for some time now so i gave 2k for it. In my parts you dont see fleetside's much.. or old trucks at all |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
OK fellas, here's the only pix so far from the grain truck 454 swap...actually just the 2-ton on a 16-ft flatbed towed 120 miles with our ol' '88 1-ton (and the good grace of the Lord for not killing anyone in the process!). Got ny universal engine mount from Summit. Just need to strip the donor RV's drivetrain and start the fab. Can't wait. More as progress occurs. Anyone near Austin bored? Help always enjoyed & reciprocated. Sorry for the crooked pix...not sure yet how to properly post 'em.

Hey Jeremy,
Not a rig I'd suggest anyone attempting. Necessity is a mother as they say. Wiiiide turns only...max safe(?) speed 50 mph. Trailer brakes mighta been nice. Would have hated to pay a tow truck for the 120 mi trip--though would likely go that route next time. Harrowing drive, for real. |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Took my 50 Chevy 3100 to cruize night the other night and decided to hook my 1952 Hansen Lovebug trailer to the pick up and take it too. It was a hit. People were staring at them the whole way. I even had an 80 something year old lady watch and grin at the pickup and trailer as I went by. It was a ton of fun to take them. Some day I will get the trailer fixed up and take it to carshows with the 50 or my 53 Suburban.

The truck and camper are a good fit together, looks like the past driving by, pretty cool. Bet that older lady was thinking about the good old days.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Here's mine. I got the 55 last year and I'm picking up the 57 on Thursday.
Keeping the 55, and taking a few parts off the 57, then it's going up for sale. The 55 is a 100, with a hydra-matic, 288 v8, big back glass, and long bed. The 57 is a 100, with a 3 speed, 347 (in the box), 3 speed and big back glass. The 57 has some rust, but the 55 which I am keeping is in decent shape. |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I didn't think to post this one when I posted my 55, but this is my 57 chevy long bed. It's the base line truck, it has no options. This truck needs a ton of work, but it's one were saving for later on. It's probably better off as parts, but I can't bring myself to part out a complete truck.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I agree, tons of potential, I'm the same way can't part nothing out. But I've been collecting parts and vehicles so I'm not in the selling mood!!

the stuff in gallons and quarts is tougher than one would think. But the key to any paint job is preparation.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I have used Rustoleum on a Camaro sub-frame, Chevelle full frame, '56 3100 & '67 CST frame with great results. It's very durable, not to mention cheap at Wal-Mart.
