Re: 1969 Short Wide

Here ya go Rob, I hope this helps. Like I said, I have an older model Sure Fit unit but I'm going to make it work. The main reason I made the brackets the whole unit kinda sagged from the weight when I shifted it forward towards the firewall.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

I made a new cover for my Vintage Air connection today. It's just raw machined now but it will be polished when finished. I used the original rubber grommets that came with it. I'm hoping the A/C hoses will mount up then I'll be able to put the bolts in from the inside. Just didn't care for the plastic cover and the fittings didn't hit quite right.

Mike, when I read your posts two words jump out at me - "I made"

There are so many things you put time and effort into that most people will never see, yet you keep on doing it. That's what separates you from the pack and why your project is so freaking cool. There's so much there.

Keep it going, can't wait to see more.

Thanks Steve. I really enjoy making stuff for this old project. It slows things down but it's kinda rewarding. I have a lot of ideas. Just trying to get this thing painted so I can move on to things more that are more fun.

Nice piece! I miss being able to just turn stuff out like that. Looks a lot nicer than the plastic piece.

Thanks. Nothing better than access to cool machining centers and cad/cam software. Only limit is imagination and time.

Man, the machined piece is over the top. I'd love to have even a drill press in my shop let alone the gear you've got. The paint is soooo sweet too!!! Nice job McB!

Thanks Jason. I really enjoy designing parts and then making them. It's pretty cool to see a raw piece of metal transform.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Been working hard on wrapping up the bed. Seems two steps forward and one back every time I turn around. Very close to having all the pieces ready to assemble.
Pretty happy with the way the bed floor turned out. This thing was hammered in every way, rust pits, and dents about every square inch.

Lined the inside of the lower bed panels with Raptor:

Next I prepped the bed floor for raptor Tinted:

ready to shoot:

Unfortunately, It looks like a small delay. Possibly tomorrow but doubtful. Notice how I only mocked up one tub? I have to re-clear the other tub today.
I had a small dust nib that I was removing with 1500 grit apparently the clear was thinner than I expected cause I got through and didn't notice till it was way too late.
