Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Trailered the chassis to a pay and spray to blast off all of the gunk. Used up a sandwich bag full of quarters from the change stash. What a mess! The trailer, the bay, and me, were all the essence of filth by the time I finished. Took another fistful of quarters to rinse everything down.
When I got back, I removed everything from the chassis except for the suspension. Hopefully, I can get it blasted and coated this week. |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Got my first patch panel from Brothers, cab corner. Cut the cab corner out and worked on the inter corner. Then I cut the new corner to fit, still needs more trimming. Not real happy with the way it fits, but I think I can make it work.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Came home with this beast friday. didnt realize how big it was til i had to us a come along and hand crank it up the trailer. lucky for me all 6 tires were still full. got it home hooked a battery to it and almost everything worked. just gotta figure out why the turn signals aren't working. Gotta clean the gas tank out and put some fuel in this weekend then gonna try and start it. can wait to get this beast rolling down the road. And except for a dead mouse here and there the interior is amazing

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Went to the swap meet looking for doors... bought an entire project of a 57 GMC cab, fenders, doors, and a whole stack of other parts. Guy wasn't parting it and the cab is in WAY better shape then our current cab. Includes chrome Chevy grill, GMC hood emblem, new windshield that we've seen. Oh, and the cab comes with a title. Also comes with a 1 ton frame with a dump bed, not 100% sure what we will do with that.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Tidied up my shed (about 3500sq ft in an industrial subdivision) so I had more room to work on my truck, did a quick internet search for new running boards in the USA as second hand ones down here are about $350 each and they still need working before they can be fitted. (is US $280 good or bad?)
And continued on with the sound deadening in the cab. Tomorrow will go to an upholstery supplier to see what they have in the carpet line for a fair price |

Now have 4 new tires. Took the 57/454ci/200r4 for a run and the truck held steady at 80 with no vibration. The 200r4 held the rpm's at 2500 for 80 and 2400 for 70.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Got the ac underdash bolted in, installed the deluxe heat stuff and got a couple of cables hooked up. Just took a mid afternoon break away from the work computer. I have found that you cannot take VA instructions literally and in the actual order or you get to do stuff twice. I am very pleased with the way the hoses are ran, but realized I forgot to put the black insulating putty stuff on the hoses. I can get my hands back there so it shouldn't be too bad.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Ha! One of my former customers, whom I had written off as a loss, sent me a payment today. Although it was 2 years late, it will only take me 2 days to spend it.
Picked up an AAW harness today and plan to buy a front disc kit tomorrow. Looks like the project may be finished sooner than expected... |

Well I haven't done anything on her today but today marks 2 years since I got her. She's gone from this...... to this. Not much different on the outside but it's what's inside that counts. Happy trucking!!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Painted my old truck steering wheel and other small parts. Pic doesn't show it but its metallic black. In the before pic you can't see how bad it was cracked, every spoke had big cracks on each end. I have about 12 hours in on the repair and paint.

Removed the 200-4r trans pan and began to pound out the dimples that cause leaking transmission's.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Yesterday I installed a cassette deck in my dads 53 suburban. Yes a cassette deck that's what he wanted. Here are some pictures of what I did.
I used these 4" speakers The test fit Here it is welded in place. I learned never to use a welder on an extension cord no good Here it is put back together and those speakers sound good. All that for under $50. My dad was at work so when he came home we went out and drove around. Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |
