don't believe everything you read on the Internets, ha ha

seriously though, buy a Chevy they said, get a Camaro, you'll be able to get all your parts at Walmart or 7 ELEVEN even, yeah right, did you know they don't reproduce stock upper or lower control arms for the 2nd gen Camaros (ie 1970-81) like they do for the 73-87 Squarebody's for example

now I was going to just get the bushings anyway but I was having some coffee and just window shopping and figure I rant a little bit

found this on Classic Performance Part #7081TCA-ULK-S but naturally they want a first born for it

Re: A '54 named Busty

I owned a second gen Camaro before and remember having that same problem. I had mine sand blasted and powder coated.

Throw the square body ones on there. I’m sure they’re interchangeable both being Chevy’s and all.

that dust plate being bent like that still bothers me not sure if that's how they are supposed to be or if the PO mangled them like that on purpose

Re: A '54 named Busty

just some comparison pics of the cleaning process cause to me it didn't look like I cleaned much, but side by side, what a difference

gonna paint these silver since it's cast iron not steel, the steel bits will git blackened

Re: A '54 named Busty

I think they cleaned up pretty good considering their age. Nice work.

I did that one rotating tires on one side front to rear and vice versa. Had the front on a jack stand and was using a floor jack on the rear. While jacking up the rear - you guessed it. Over she went. Fortunately I was on a dirt/gravel driveway and nothing was bruised except my ego and that dust shield.

Dang that sucks. We’re you able to get a jack under it to get it lifted back up or did you have to do something creative?

They look great! This is what separates the men from the boys. Awesome work and well worth the effort.

I jacked up on the frame from the side behind the front tire - similar to where most modern cars get jacked up. Fortunately it was a small pickup, not a car.

Re: A '54 named Busty

The spindle looks great. What paint did you use?

I'm going to get some Eastwood Brake Gray as it is supposed to be the best anit rust when applying near brake fluid.

I've given up chasing expensive paint unicorns! I get the same results with dime a dozen formulas and I've already proven manufacturers put the same formula in two or three different packages aka cans and sell it at three different price points, shame on them!

so I used the can I bought for the inside of the cab that didn't make the cut, I figure under the truck nobody will be the wiser, and yet it turned out great

Re: A '54 named Busty

Thanks for that.

OH, I pulled the rear axle from an S10 this morning. 95 degrees and 96% humidity. Gregski fun factor of 1! But I got it in the truck.
