Sure would like to do the firewall on my 67 like this
Will be watching closely how you setup the AC feedthru
I used a Vintage Air Sure Fit system on our 69 Firebird. A good system except the one thing I don't like is the feedthru at the firewall. It's kinda cheap looking plastic and the hoses come out to the engine bay at wierd angles. Next time I want a much cleaner setup, maybe even hide it away from view.

Today was a productive day after my honey do list was complete. I had to get all the out side lights up before I was distracted out in the shop LOL!

Then I started on the A/C unit mounts so nothing would bolt through the fire wall like they are designed for. I made a simple little bracket for above the trans hump that holds a stud for the unit to bolt. I also welded a bolt to the top side of the lower dash lip and then added a caged nut to the fire wall and a small bracket to the back of the unit. I did LowBuck and Lemon Drop this way and so far so good. I also got the last plate installed on the fire wall and just need to grind down the welds.

I then started the new cowl for the truck. I took a factory radio delete cowl and sliced it up for parts then started reworking the good cowl. I still have plenty of work to do to get it finished up but should be done with the entire project Sunday. What do you think of the cowl?? This is the first time I have done one this way (owners idea not mine) and I think it looks slick!

Filling a cowl is about twice as fast ( I have a template for blanking them off with wipers) but this has a very clean stock/modded look.

The cowl looks good! Just wondering if the owner has a plan for wipers? Or not planning on driving it in the rain? He is in CA right? It doesn't rain there anyway.

It seems like the Vintage Air setup hangs pretty low under the dash. I assume they make it so it doesn't hang any lower than the OEM unit? Keep it up!

Yes it will be a garage queen on the rainy days but driven the heck out of the rest of the time. The A/C is as tight as it can be just like the rest of the after market units and is higher then stock. I have the same unit in LowBuck and it sits just like this one does and with black carpet it just disappears.

Thanks Kevin, You drive low buck all the time right? How do you like the Vintage Air setup? Keeps you warm and cool? any issues with the vents, hoses, controls? I want to buy one of these kits for a daily driver, just have a hard time justifying $1125.

The only thing I do not like is the center dash vent. The stock one is fed from both sides of the vent and the new one V.A. sends is fed from the passenger side and this causes all the air to blow to the driver. It is great for the driver but the center rider will not get any air. I think if you wanted you could use an original center vent and split the new supply tube and feed from both sides.
Other than that it is a great system and I will be putting one just like it into the 4Dr Tahoe I am building as well.

Well I have a few old gas line holes to fill in the floor once I flip it up and I also need to drill the holes for the 68 style door mirrors and then it is ready for pick up!

I have them on LowBuck by choice

I think they are 68 I have , 3 bolt flange and a small round mirror? If not 68 it is still the style he is using and yes their is a lot of work done but none of it will stand out. Just basically a stock looking truck

Yeah it is my own design I have been working of for quit some time now. This is a half size drawing of the roadster P/U.
