Re: 99' CCSB build Family Cruiser!

She weighs in at 6000lbs dry and I am determined to use the crew as my primary tow vehicle.

Re: 99' CCSB build Family Cruiser!

I'm also working on some cosmetic repairs/upgrades. As I noted earlier in this thread, losing the drivers rear wheel while driving caved in the box side pretty good. I bought this truck off of kijiji for $1500, it's very clean. My original intention was to strip the truck for parts. The truck is too nice to part, it's a one owner with 245000 Km's. It is now my daily. Of course I can't leave it stock, I'll do a little build tread on it later. Still gonna swap the boxes though.

Re: 99' CCSB build Family Cruiser!

One of the major reasons I bought the above truck was also for the GMC grill. I just think that they are nicer than the chrome Chevy versions. I found this truck on kijiji with a blown motor. Bought it for $600. I swapped the hood, grill and front bumper as well as kept the tailgate for a spare. The I relisted the truck and sold it for $775. Definately can't complain

Sorry for all the posts in a row. It's been a while since updated this thread. Here's the last pic for today. Just a pic after I swapped the front end parts.

Re: 99' CCSB build Family Cruiser!

Niiiice! Keep buying, stripping, and selling for profit and you'll be in good shape lol. I purchased a ton of donor parts for mine. The helper bags will make a big difference when you go to tow something. I am definitely buying a set with the drop kit. Here is a pic of mine how she sits now. I too swapped for a GMC grill because I like them much better on these trucks. Yours looks damn good with it on there, I like it! The link is my thread with all the before and during pics (truck was pretty rough to say the least). It still needs some small details wrapped up like window tint and such, but its getting there.

Looks good! I like the lack of side trim. I'm working towards the same look. She's gonna look sweet with an altitude adjustment. You and I seem to do things the same way, good matching donor parts instead of paint ing new ones. Body shop prices can turn a mild project like these upside down real quick.

Looks sweet with the G.M.C. grill YBNORML. Truck is looking good I like the wheels too. I'm swapping my 14 bolt sf to a 2002 nbs disc brake rear end on my crew. Do you remember when you did yours what conversion U-joint you used would you have a part #. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the compliments.

Sorry, I don't have a part number. All I did was take both u–joints in to my drive line shop and they pulled a conversion joint of the shelf. I was actually pretty surprised at how easy it was.

Re: 99' CCSB build Family Cruiser!

Yeah I agree. I spent about $1300 for a bed, doors, hood, fenders, bumpers, and tailgate. All I painted were the bumpers. A body shop would have had to scrap most of the original panels, charged me new replacement panels at retail, then charged me with paint and labor. That could have turned me upside down so far id almost be upright again lol. I added everything up the other day. I'm in this rig for slightly under $5600, and that's including the $2300 I spent on it.

Re: 99' CCSB build Family Cruiser!

It's been awhile since I posted anything here. Truck sat most of the summer waiting for an engine swap. It's finally done.

I finally started swapping parts between the "parts" truck and the crew. As you can see the parts truck got a few upgrades over the last few months as well. After the parts are swapped I plan on keeping it as a winter beater. Here's a few pics of what the shop looked like the last few days.

That's awesome seeing them side by side. Both are very cool trucks. But I must favour the crew cab just a little more.(I wonder why??) Wish I could get mine on the road. Keep the pics coming!! Motivation.

Re: 99' CCSB build Family Cruiser!

I've been having a heck of a starting issue. Intermittently the truck would decide not to start. It would fire up and run for a second or so then die. I swapped out all kinds of parts and nothing made a difference. Eventually a mechanic buddy of mine figured it out. Turns out the factory security system was activating itself whenever it felt like it. A simple bypass at a different buddies shop, everything is perfect. Picked it up last night! Man I love driving this truck!

Thanks.

I'm just swapping the front ends between the extended and the crew. Although it looks good in pics, the front of the crew is pretty rough.

That's funny! Sorry I didn't have a chance to bull****. But as you were driving away I mentioned to my wife that your s-10 is almost identical to one I built years ago, except for the color. I really miss those trucks. Unfortunately, they don't carry kids too well!
