I could not be any happier! Well, maybe if it was already in my garage ready to drive, I'd probably be happier.
Mike - it's looking fantastic! I'm really pleased and looking forward to trucking it back home in a few more weeks. Thanks for making this x-mas really exciting.

I was going to tilt the cab on the the firewall and put the vertical pieces horizontal, then when that cured, lay the cab back down and put the sealer in the horizontal areas.... Would that work also???? Also, did you tape the cab off when putting the seam sealer on to keep that line so straight? |

Re: New Project at Musclerodz - '68 K20
After a week of so so weather, finally got the cab, tailgate, and bottom side of hood painted. I had planned to do the doors as well but ran out of time. looks like next week we will finish all the painting providing good weather.

Re: New Project at Musclerodz - '68 K20
Looking a little more like a truck in this pic. Now is when all the real fun begins and pics don't show much. Richard now is the time to let me know if you want to stay black or go back white. Had some break through so I have to do the lettering one more time.

Re: New Project at Musclerodz - '68 K20
Hey Mike - man - that looks CRAZY good! Very nice. So, it'll be ready this Sunday, right
You know - I'm really think the off white (stock color) is what I want for the letters. Black is cool - but I think going white is cooler. Don't know why, but something is telling me to go back to the stock off white. If it's not too late and not too hard to do - please go with the stock white. Looks like I need to get up there quick and take her home before I end up driving home a 72! Thanks!

Re: New Project at Musclerodz - '68 K20
Small update. I have been holding out on pics because I new the owner was coming in to see it and I wanted to make sure he had something fresh to look at when he got here. Anyways, I will be posting pics this weekend unless Richard beats me to it with the pics he took.

Re: New Project at Musclerodz - '68 K20
Just got back from OK visiting Mike at his shop. I hope these pictures d0 justice to the artwork that I saw there. Mike's meticulous attention to detail is unmatched, and I can't wait to get my 68 home and start driving. Mike - thanks for the great work and tour of your shop. Notice new front diff, LED tail lights and white lettering on the tail gate. More pics coming . . .

Re: New Project at Musclerodz - '68 K20
More pics . . new wheels, new 1 ton brake and clutch boosters, rebuilt 327 matched with the NV4500 tranny, freshly built 396 backup motor prepared for storage until the 327 gives out, and the radio and A/C controller installed. It's really getting close now.

Very nice work, those 327s can be fun if you wind them out.

Re: New Project at Musclerodz - '68 K20
the original owner put a 205 in about a year before I bought it, so it's going back in along with a new NV4500 adpater.

Re: New Project at Musclerodz - '68 K20
Here's a couple more pics that I found in my camera - some more details . . . another view of the front diff, new factory mirrors, new door handles, new disk brakes on the front, and the nice restoration/cleanup on the factory A/C controls.

Re: New Project at Musclerodz - '68 K20
Mike can probably explain the actual color better than I, however, I think the picture on the right (with door handle) is a bit more accurate. I'm going back with the original factory color which is 04514AA Red. Even though it says Red, it's always looked more orange to me. The picture on the left had quite a bit of fluorescent light reflection in it, which I think makes it look a bit more red. If you look at some of the earlier pics in the thread (page 1) you can see the original color.
