Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember

Well I finally have an update!

I was able to make a bit of progress yesterday with some help from my uncle before Thanksgiving dinner. He helped get the lower bag mounts tacked onto the axle. Once that got squared away, I was able to get the rest of the rear end together. Now I have to get the rear axle housing flushed and get the axles put back in so I can get it rolling on its own. Also, I got to get a heater installed in the garage! It was about 20 degrees inside there yesterday! yikes...

Good looking build so far. Looking forward to seeing the progression. Builds like this is causing me to blow my budget out of the water and go with PB stuff. Looking at the mild DM and Stage 2 deluxe rear.

Curious in the reason you went with those control arms over PB. Not familiar with the ones you chose.

Thanks! Porterbuilt parts are definitely some nice stuff. Makes my life a whole lot easier. I would never have been able to do what I wanted to do to my truck with out them.

I went with Michigan Metal Works control arms because I really like their style. I wanted to be different. You don't see this style of control arms very often and they go well with the new PB Dropmember. They actually have a new style of control arms now for the C10's, but they still look great! Taylor over at MMW is actually having "Name your Price" deal right now. It may save you a few bucks if you're looking at buying a set of control arms. They do great work at MMW and normally ship parts out very fast.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember

I was able to assemble my eXo mount today, inside the house, where it was nice and warm! I won't be installing it on the frame for a bit, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get it done now. My plan is to create a cradle right in back of the cab under the bed to mount it to.

lol for sure, they work great for temps. are you going to paint your MMW arms or try to press out the ball joints to powder coat them.

You will love the Accuair set up, hands down the best set up ive ever used.

Well I was thinking of powder coating them, but now I'm actually thinking of painting them, so I won't need to press the ball joints out...we'll see. I can't wait to get the Accuair all setup, it looks so clean.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember

Well, finally another update. Work's been keeping me really busy lately, so this is the first weekend in a while I've been able to work on the truck. One thing that's changed other than the truck is the garage. I've been slowly cleaning it up and organizing everything, it was a mess before. Then my dad and I installed a nice little modine heater so I can actually work out in the garage during the winter. It works really well!

Today I worked on getting the rear rotors and calipers mounted. After I got everything installed, I brought my wheels up out of storage and mounted them up. I was pumped to see them on the frame. It definitely gave me more motivation to keep moving!
