Thanks Cap. I figure after I get it on the road I can start to save up some parts to use your power steering brackets I got from ya. Might even do the brake upgrade at the same time. Lord knows the boss will be wanting them both soon enough.

You know as well as anyone Grizz that these things keep changing. I think we all start at one place in our minds and as the project evolves we tend to let the project tell us what it needs. This one needed to at the very least get rid of the rust and have a new interior. The rest of the stuff I just couldn't stop myself, Besides its a passion for me as I am sure it is for most on here.

Gas tank installed and plumbed.
Funny thing is the truck ran ok with the old tank and line as it was. I dropped this one in and ran a new line (3/8 braided stainless) start the truck up and it runs better?????? Must have had some blockage in the old line. Sorry the truck is so dusty but somebody has been cutting sanding welding and grinding around here..

John, I know the combo rigs will weld plenty good. It some times takes a bit more messing around with them to get em right. I have dedicated Mig, Tig, Oxy/Acet. Arc welders that I have been using for years so its a little easier with individuals that I can set up for each to do a specific task. For example I have my arc welder set up to do heavy welding 3/16 and above. The mig has been set for 16 to 18 gauge sheetmetal the Oxy/ Acet rig is set up for two tasks. cutting and heating. The Tig is set to do anything up to 1/4"
The carpet is actually a great product. At first I was looking at it as just being a piece to cover the floor but the stuff is really nice and the fit is near perfect. Plus the boss loves the color and the texture. Gotta get back out there and finish the sound proofing material install. It is made by ACC... The 80/20 .loop yes I did the additional backing. as well I have sound deadener installed

Scott I appreciate the info.....You are probably correct about buying direct but I do know some employees that work for them so I may be able to go that route...Im more interested in seeing the product at this point so that I can ensure the color. Just kinda stinks that shipping is 47.00 for a 20 min ride.
ACC went through a change a few years back when a lot of their management was killed in a plane crash. They seem to be a great company. Itll be awhile before I get carpet....Still doing the body work so sand sand sand is my motto right now and of course lots of reading on painting. Im still in the process of getting the initial body work done....Once that is done Ill put it all back together and do panel matching and get the gaps as best I can.....day by day. Still have a few places to fix some interior cab metal but waiting on the welder to arrive.

So heres a real quick one.. Fuel gauge nightmare:
So I have a new tank new sending unit and new wiring. The fuel tank has a couple gallons in it... the gauge reads full?? I am like WTF. So of course I screwed something up right? I spend a couple hours last night and most of this morning taking everything apart making jumper wires, checking grounds, making sure everything is good and still when I turn on the key it goes straight to full... I take the sending unit out and am standing at the back of the truck messing with it when I look through the back window and its working again... I am like WTH now? They put a stop for the arm to fall on when the tank is near empty and yes of course it grounds out and shows full tank..... Dam rocket science I tell you.. needless to say that stop has now been conveniently tweeked out of the way and the arm bent just slightly to keep it from grounding out and now the gauge works perfectly... LOL glad I pulled the wiring harness out and double checked every wire from the starter to the tail lights...

So I have been reading all of the horror stories here about the weatherstrip gaskets around the doors and honestly have been concerned that I will end up with a truck you have to slam the doors to close them. Last project car I did was a 1963 Karmann Ghia and yes you have to slam the doors. Sucks but they just don't make many options for that car. Anyway I figured I would try the cheap weatherstrip pieces at Classic parts $25 a pair was pretty reasonable. If they don't work well then I can go the import route and spend the extra cash on those as they get good reviews. I put in the as I like to call them "El Cheapos" Adjusted the striker and to my surprise they fit great. The door does not fall shut by itself but I also do not need to slam the door. And they even seal the door.. Thinking I must have gotten lucky or done something wrong.. LOL. Oh well the seals worked out great and now I am finishing off the carpet with new mats and kick panels to match the "El Cheapo" carpet.
Keep thinking I was going to keep this build simple.

Broke down and bought the bed wood. Went to classic parts again due to the low price as well as shipping costs.
Also got a few pieces of the door trims that were missing when I bought the truck. I open the box the wood was shipped in and sitting on top with no protection is the new door trims.. OUCH! All dented and dinged up from the handling of the packages. Dents you can see through the package.. Opened them up and they were even worse.. The wood had the same matching dents.. LOL Now I know I opted to purchase the lower grade wood knowing this truck will get a bed that is used on the daily and could end up with motorcycles, bikes and maybe even a motor or transmission back there. So here is the good news.. I called Classic parts and with no hesitation they apologized and said no worry we will get the new parts out to you immediately.. Looks like the tracking number says delivery scheduled for tomorrow... All in all the rest of the bed wood looks great so we shall see.

Scott the carpet looks really good. I got some samples from the link you sent me and they look really good as well. I got 4 samples from black to silver...now to decide..lol.
Classic Parts does a really good job about replacing things..I had a couple of things I ordered that were toast when I got them...called and just like you they sent replacements out quickly. As far as the door weatherstripping I purchased mine from Precision https://www.prp.com/product/detail/352505 these are the push on type which I like. I tried it on the passenger side and they worked pretty good....a lil snug but not real tight...may be an option for you if you don't like the ones you got. BTW what are you doing for speakers?

Been busy installing the bed for what seems like a month. (been about a week) Took me several days of scratching my head to finally figure this thing out. (Sort of) After what seemed like forever searching these forums and others I have come to the conclusion that the bed I have on my truck is not the original. Should have known when I sanded the outside down and the paint under the top coat didn't match the cab. It appears to be a 60-62 bed. from what I have read on here the bedsides are different than the 63-66 beds. meaning the two will swap out but the older beds will not align with the cab exactly. Now I am getting creative to make it work.. It never ends..

Roll on bedliner for the win Decided at the last minute that we needed a bolt in bike rack to carry the cruisers in the back of the truck. I didn't want something that sat on the bed wood floor and I wanted the option of it being removable with just a couple of bolts if possible. Since we are empty nesters and know that all we need room for is two bikes I opted for a more traditional holder of sorts that will hold the front tire centered and have a spot on each side to hook a tiedown to.
