Re: 5.3 into 72
Are you using a "cold air box" on the air cleaner?

Re: 5.3 into 72
So, I ordered the Alan grove lower AC bracket in hopes that I could make it work. I came up short on finding any post with pictures or information from people who have had this bracket work. So I figured out a plan to make it work and I ordered some fitting from a company name cold house. Great customer service there, they got me everything I needed. I ordered a #8 90 degree fitting, a #8 straight fitting with a charge port and I ordered a 45 degree #10 fitting with a charge port. I have one more fitting to be crimped as when I thought I had my final product I came up with another idea to clean it up some. The first pic is before that idea, the second is the final mock
No trimming of the frame was necessary. This is in conjunction with ECE motor mounts. In my opinion it has a much cleaner look to it. Anyway, it works for me. I can finally beat the heat this summer. |

Re: 5.3 into 72
Did you have to mod the frame rail for the lower mount compressor?

Re: 5.3 into 72
Seems like it's been too long since my last post here. Recently I've put new window felts in the vent window channels and it stopped the annoying window rattle these trucks can develop. That's all the work I've done! Here in about two weeks I'll be putting on new wheels and tires. 20x10 riddler 695s with 295 40 20s on the rear and 20x8.5s in the front with 255 40 20s on the front. Next up I'll be tinting my windows. I bought some pre cut tint. I'm going with 35% on the sides and 5% on the rear. I am keeping things legal for the state of NC. Then I'll add in my pressure transducer switch and binary switch and get my vintage air charged. Hopefully by the end of summer I'll be adding a Detroit truetrac to my rear end. This should all make for a great summer.

Re: 5.3 into 72
Looking great there Jesse. I'm helping a friend with a '68 frame off and LS swap. I've been following your thread so it will help me see where all the pieces go a little further down the line. Is yours a single rail fuel line with no return? Thanks Ed...

The rail has no return. The return is on my Fuel pressure Regulator.

Re: 5.3 into 72
Congrats!!! Kool looking truck.
How was the clearance with the Gibson headers and your shifter linkage? Are you running original shifter linkage or after market? Thanks

Re: 5.3 into 72
I'm running Lokar shift linkage and there are no clearance issues with the headers.

Re: 5.3 into 72
Truck turned out awesome! Very good work! I have a couple of questions- could you post a pic of the backside of the truck so we can see how far the tank hangs down? Also, did you have to alter the tank to use those hoses with the AN fittings?
Thanks! |

Re: 5.3 into 72
I thought of another question. What was your old tranny, TH 350? I am wondering if you had to cut the drive shaft with the new engine/tranny combo. Thanks.
