I made my own mounting plates. I had to drill the bottom hole for the mounts but the upper 2 holes lined up fine using the 6 cyl holes. I was also able to use the CPP tranny cross member for the 4L60E and it went right into the stock crossmember holes as well. This alllowed for me to get a few inches back towards the firewall and I can get my A/C compressor to easily slide in from the front too.

Had a good junk yard score today, I was able to get the A/C inner and outer unit minus condensor for $50. All good housing and no cracks etc. Also grabbed the A/C vents from the inside as well. I was able to get a complete unmolested washer hose set up for free. Old guy is cool and will just give away small stuff like that if you pull it yourself.

fenders are still in shipping primer but I wanted to get them mocked up and fitment right before they were laid in paint.

Progress has been a bit slow as of late. I did go down to Tulsa last weekend and picked up my set of wheels (338's) from Tommy at T-N-T Mortorsports. Good dude and a good price. I have the harness and ecm sent off to S&S in Arkansas and hope to have it back in the coming weeks so we can try and get the thing fired up! I ended up going with the poly fuel line kit and have everything plumbed back to the tank and putting the final touches on the tank installation. I have made some progress on getting small things detailed out and painted, but I hope to have the front clip test fitted and painted in the coming weeks. I also need to tie up plumbing the brakes, but that will get done soon enough. Still looking like it will be ready to roll by spring if things keep slowly coming together.

Been a busy couple of weeks as of late, but rain today shuts down my harvest activities, so I have a few minutes to do a little updating....that and being a Federal employee who is currently furloughed helps too

Was able to mock up the radiator and looks like everything is going to work correctly with this radiator nad the LS motor. It is a radiator out of a mid 90's chevy pickup. I was able to use the donor Tahoe radiator hoses and just cut about 2" off the lower hose to get the fit I wanted.



Also got the steering column sanded, painted and installed and cleaned up my steering wheel. The bad thing is I ordered a "sure fit" shift linkage kit and to was too short, so I am going to have to lengthen the connecting rod to get the thing to work with my 4L60E.



Also found a screaming deal on a set of 295/40/20 Toyo Proxies that were 95% tread...for $50!! So I went ahead and grabbed those and also bought some new front tires and got everything mounted up.....



What I found out is the narrrow rearend from a 69 that has been converted to 5x5 with Moser shafts and a disk brake conversion and 295's on a 20x10 rim with 5.5 BS is just a touch too wide to tuck without rubbing on a stepper bed. The options I am thinking now is either
1. bring the rims in and have them milled down on the backside of the mounting surface by about 1/8-1/4" if there is that much there to take off witout compromising structural integrity
2. mill 1/8" off the face of the brake rotor mounting surface
3. cut and fold the inner fender lip on the stepper bed
4. cut and widen the whole stepper bed fender by @ 1/2" each side
.....all are viable options, but needing to assess the cost and feasibility involved in each.

I also received my computer and harness yesterday from S&S Performance. I am hoping to get it installed in the next few weeks and see if we can get this thing to come to life!

The truck looks great.
I think out of all your options trimming the lip on the rear fender is probably your best bet, you could take 1/8" off without relief cuts and folding them you can simply just trim the lip back.

Thanks guys. I noticed today that my drivers side rear fender has just a touch more room than the passenger side, so I am going to adjust the track bar and get it centered up just a hair, and than I am going to remove the fenders again and trim off as much as I can and then roll the inner edge to keep from slicing the tire. If that does not give me enough room, I am going to run the rotors to the machine shop and have the face milled down a touch also. I think that may give me just enough room. I think I may start taking the old wood out of the bed tomorrow and get my fuel tank spacing figured out.

Those wheels look good! I agree with Xeen, trimming the lip would be the easiest way to go. Just don't cut it all off or you'll lose some rigidity.

Well it has been a busy past couple of months around here but I was finally able to get a little shop time in. When it gets cold out in these parts, all my shop help disappears, so it has just been pretty much me and Ol' Blue.



I finished getting the fuel system tied up and I also finished my rear tank mounting set up.





Once that was done I moved on to getting things rolling with the harness and computer installation. I have since gotten the wiring cleaned up and loomed as well.



Knowing that I wanted to get the motor running, I needed to get the MAF sensor installed so I ordered an air intake system and had to do a little custom work to get it all to work together.




Thinking everything was about ready to go, we did a fresh oil change and while under there I decided to put in a new tranny filter and fluid. We added about 5 gallons of fuel and then it was time to see if the fuel pump would kick on....it did, so we are just that much closer. Now that I have been working on wiring the new to the old, I was pretty confident that we had everything double, or in some cases, triple checked.

Then came the moment of truth...the first attempt of firing it up!!! A quick installation of the new ignition switch and tumbler and it was go time........




But due to problems with uploading my video, I will just let you know that it fired right up on the first turn of the ignition and purred like an overgrown kitten! Once I get the video problem figured out I will post it up!

Thanks guys, it has def been a work in progress. I did a late night order to Summit to get the new rear shocks, u-bolts and shifter linkage that is holding up progress. I took some driveshaft measurements and hope to get a new driveshaft built in the coming weeks as well. I caught a buy on Rockauto a few weeks back and picked up the front and rear brake lines for the disc conversion and will be placing an order for the power brake booster/mc set up to run these disks. My bodyshop help has not showed up yet to help get the front clip put together...mixing aftermarket and stock parts has proven to be a challenge getting things to line up, so I have to call in the professionals.....I have also decided to add 1.25" into the center of each stepside fender so that it will clear the wheel/tire combo I want to run. It will be a little extra work, but at this point it is just part of the build. I will try and do a little better job of keeping the build up to date and I just noticed my membership has lapsed....looks like I need to get on that!

Not a whole lot to update on at this point. We have gotten all the front clip fit and it is now ready to get to the body shop. I picked up a good seat an it will soon be getting the proper upholstery done on it. I picked up a No Limits billet dash and now I need to get gauges ordered. Once the front clip is pulled off, it will be going to the alignment shop to get everything buckled up in the front end and then to the muffler shop for the exhaust to get tied up. I picked up 2 Magnaflow mufflers for it. I ended up ordering the stainless steel brake line kit for the disk conversion and plumbed it in with a new CPP disk/disk booster. I have everything to finish up making the drive shaft, I just have not had the time as of late. I decided to have the bed lined with line-X on the inside and the strips, and going with a black wash stain on the wood to tie it all together. Still on the fence about a rear bumper or a roll pan.......
