Changed the thermostat, installed new valve covers and gaskets.
Today I also installed a new window regulator in the drivers door. |

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Installed my autosound slidebar radio this weekend. I opted for the Bluetooth option. Quite an easy set up to install. Instructions were quite detailed and the radio programming was straightforward. The bluetooth interface worked like a dream, can make and receive hands free calls. Can also stream Pandora and any other audio from my smartypants phones bluetooth. The pita was reinstalling the center AC vent.

JB, are those custom gauges, or did you redo the originals with white face?
Nice radio install, by-the-way.

Here are a few more pics of the finished product. Gauges are white vinyl overlays.

Replaced my 2X4 hatch holder with gas struts
My OE hatch hinges never worked right so I've been using a 2X4 to keep the door from dropping on my head. Finally sourced some gas struts from McMaster: http://www.mcmaster.com/#gas-struts/=10gvykk and now the hatch stays up by itself!

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Mostly plug and play but I did need to tap new threads into the original holes. I'll dig up the receipt and post the McMaster PN when I get home.

Got one more door done! Rough body work and 2 coats of epoxy primer. Two more and the body comes home!

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Yup, I installed them in the '67 Panel Truck and they work great. You will find out quick if your hinges are bad because it will spread the top of your doors apart....

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
I spent the last two weeks on my driver side qtr panel replacing the fuel filler and some rust. Here's a couple "before" pics of the old door and rust and a finished pic with the new flush push/twist release cap.

Any more info on the cap. ie: brand, part #, link to web site. The fill on my '67 Panel Truck is on the inside and it has to go. I don't get any gas odor but it's a pain in the butt to have to open the rear doors to fuel it up. LockDoc

Caused some body damage to one of them...no big deal, though.

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
I replaced my halogen 6 inch Unity spotlight bulb with a Whelen PAR146 LED spotlight bulb from Sirennet. A couple of before and afters. I went from about 1000 lumens to around 2000. The amp draw is significantly less as well.
Before shot illuminating some masking paper on my toolbox. Another before, the light isn't shining directly at the camera, it washed out the shot too much. Notice the reflection on the hood compared to the last pic, noticeable difference. After. Spot detail is much more defined. I am certain that at night this more focused beam will broadcast much further with better clarity. After.

Put it on a quick diet by pulling the heavy tow hitch.

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Removed the stock pan hard bar and then added the deluxe from CPP.
It is like night and day driving it, I should have done this a long time ago. |
