Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

I was asked what was going on with the T-Bird in my avatar so here are a few pics of it. And Fat Mike I also included a pic of Kabwe helping me install the engine. The Bird belongs to a friend of the family and because of the high cost involved it was only a partial restoration. It should have been a complete frame off resto. Lots of people don't understand that when you got a car or truck that age and it's been sitting up for 24 years not driven and not maintained, be prepared to get up off of some Mula $$$$ to get it going. I did the best that I could but it needed so much more done to it. Maybe because I have been too busy comparing it to the show quality T-Birds I feel it should have been a complete resto. The motor had a locked up cylinder because of a blown head gasket and the water leaked in and after 24 years of sitting it just rusted/welded sort of kind the piston rings to the cyl. walls.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

A wicked looking '59 at the the 2011 Grand National Roadster Show. You gotta see it in person these pictures don't do it justice. However the Mid-nite Blue '55 Cameo that I posted a few pictures back was my favorite. It was something about the Cameo that made it POP a 'Lil more then this '59

Does anybody recognize those tail lights (black truck above)? That is what I have been looking for.

BC
The mid-night blue truck was assembled at a shop in Corona. I saw it there before it was complete.
Very nice truck.

That is a 46-48 Ford passenger car tail light at least that's how my brain sees it.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

This project feels like it is in slow motion. The more I do the slower it seems to progress,LOL. A lot of stuff I am doing wasn't worth taking pictures of, but here are some pictures of where I am. Most recent changes, left lower hinge pocket and salvaging the left rocker panel. I won't have to cut it out after all the previous owners slopped lots of bondo on instead of straightening it out and some other stuff I managed to get done. Hopefully in the near future some detail pics of the bed removal & mods and rear suspension changes.

Looking good. Makes me appreciate how solid my cab was when I got it. Just out of curiosity, what's bolted to the inside of your step? I saw those two bolts and it made me wonder.

That's where I mounted my vacuum resivor can for the power booster due to the cam I have. My friend Kabwe was over and saw it and nicely suggested I might want to hide that, I will think about it

Thanks but everyday life and the small details on the truck have made me aware that this isn't going to be done anytime in the near future. I DON'T KNOW WHAT i WAS THINKING

THANK You, yes more then a few people said I should leave it red oxide, but that's not for me. It was that color for so long, coz I was going to save the money to have it painted but I could never justify paying that kind of money so I'm gonna do it myself.

I love satin paint, but we all really want shine eventually. With the repair skills you've shown you will be fine with the paint. Single stage keeps it simple, and the the show job comes from sanding. Time and sweat right. Good luck and enjoy, I'm along way from paint but want to tackle it myself too.

I saw your truck it looks like you just completed it. Well, please post some more pics. We can never get enough in progress photos here. Are you going to keep it black or go to a different color?

I do too now, but it had to grow on me. When I first got the truck the grill was all white. Thanks for dropping by.
