And how bout seatbelts? I want to upgarde the lap belts to a retractable 3 point style. Have any of you done this, and what kind did you use??

Edit- I don't think the ones I have will work w/the tank behind the seat. At least I couldn't figure it out. I went w/an under bed tank, so it didn't matter.

Any body have any ideas on brake fluid heating problems?


Oh and thank you so much for your advice, the vacuum line was a somewhat simple hookup and now the trans shifts fine.

Heres an idea I have, the paint on my truck isnt spectacular, and I don't really like the color so I want to add a custom door logo to spice t up a bit. I had a friend of mine help me make it in photo shop, and bw4sale helped me 'shop it on my door in the photoshop forum. What do you guys think? Any ideas? I want to change the background color of the cross to white, it might show up better on my red truck. Input is appreciated.

nice build man, have you figured out the vacuum line? i had troubles with that on my burb when i put a new carb/intake on it. The vacuum line for the modulator is on the back of the carb, i had a 600 cfm. I'll take a picture if you cant get it!

Thanks man! Ya I got the vac prob figured out. It took some redneck ingenuity to reduce the hose size but now it works like a dream! Been curizin around a bit workin the kinks out

Thanks for the compliments guys... its good motivation to keep going.
Now I need to:

Put on the new Idler and Pitman arms

Re-alignment

3 Point Seat Belts

Figure out where the oil is leaking from

Put on new header gaskets (exhaust leak already )

Take the truck back to the shop that built my trans. to have them fine tune

Get a set of wheels that look better

The list never stops.

I finally got my Chrome Grille trim in!! I love it. And I also installed a new idler and pitman arm. Now time for another alignment.

Man when I was in highschool we didnt get do senior projects? I took shop all 4 years and ran out of metals classes and had to take wood classes and I took the same woods class 2 hours in a row just to kill time, our school was a joke. Lookin good now you just need to get a good locker, dont get a powertrax get a deroit and drop it in the back

I wouldn't worry about the brake line/fluid near the headers if you've got the kind of clearance there appears to be by the picture. If you're running less than .5", you may end up with a problem. I am making new lines because on the passenger side, where the line for the rear brakes goes inside the frame, my headers actually touch the headers, and I haven't had any problems yet. I'll hopefully be fixing it this coming week. If you're worried about it, get some header wrap, and wrap that one section.

i got a 64 i put headers on.. and it did heat and the fluid expands of something.. it put a little pressure on my brakes.. i re routed them under the frame rail, and its fine now.. except i need a new master cyl.. but idk.. mine might have been a little closer than yours.. never know.. if you wanna be sure.. try header wrap.

btw glad to see fellow younguns out there. built my first soph. year.. and am just finishin up no, 2. keep it up

Throw some crosses on man. My 69'
Had those on for over a year. I got some some weird looks mostly WTF? Everybody used to always associate it with the swastika because they are very dumb. Now my 69 is this

All hand done stencils by me, took some sandpaper to roughen them up to make it look old and haggard.

You've got such a nice clean truck, Lucky...I'm thinking for spice, maybe some CST type trim? My neighbor just picked up a very stock farm-truck type 68 LWB CST, and it looks really classy. It's your truck of course, and you've shown good taste so far, so I'm sure it'll be great.

Just a humble suggestion from a mostly simple guy. What do I know!

I am debating whether I should pull the motor, I have some time off school and I would like to do this sooner than later. I need to redo the oil pan gasket cuz its leaking horribly, and I would like to stab lumpier camshaft in it. It also needs either a new carburetor, or a rebuild. I don't feel like spending 50 bucks on a rebuild kit, it will still be a junky Edelbrock 650 when its done (if I even put it together right). I think I will save the money and put it towards a new (or slightly used) Holley double pumper. I'll keep searching CL.

get one of the blue Felpro pan gaskets, they work great. I had to raise my motr up a few inches to drop the pan..

i think that a 650 double pumper would be a little too big if you have a mostly stock engine. it is mostly stock right?
