Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Hello everyone, its been a while since i work on my truck due to personal issues, but that is behind us now, so I worked on it yesterday. I finally installed the TCI leaf springs, I threw in some 3" lowering blocks and well here it is

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
So now that this is done, I got a little excited and wanted to see it on the ground, so i threw on the wheels and this is what it looks like..... I have to admit it felt like watching a newborn.... I have a long ways to go, but it feels good to see the results after working on the frame for so long...

Next on the list, install the fuel tank, install the Pirate Jack brake booster system and run brake lines...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Jesse,
Do you know what kind of ride height your going to have with the TCI kit and 3" blocks? I took a couple of stock springs out of my 53 and put in 3" blocks with 15" rims and am pretty happy with the height but I'm getting ready to install a inline 250 with a 68 camaro rear end am thinking of getting the tci kit.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Look at mine and you can see exactly how low it will sit (TCI dropped springs and 3" blocks)... Jesse, the truck is looking great, keep up the good work!

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Hey DirtyBird, as it sits now. It is at 8 3/4 in the rear and 8 1/2 in the front (running boards). Not exactly sure how much it will drop once I sit the 350/700r drivetrain and with the body weight. Im guessing (hoping that no more than) 1 inch in the rear and 1 1/2 in the front.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Hello all, I need some advice, and honest opinions. A friend of mine owns a small mechanic shop and plays around with hot rods; he saw my LS1 and made me an offer I couldnt refuse. Keep in mind I paid a meesly $500.00 dollars for the engine and trans. He gave me $1500.00 plus a LST engine. It has a mild cam, and runs,no need to overhaul. Here is my dilema. I bought a 454 from my brother in law, he had laying around in his property. I gave him $100.00 for it, obviously. I would want/need to rebuild it and who knows how much money i would spend. So here is where im undecided or need advice. I can go with the LST and be done with it, but if i decide to go with the 454, do i have enough room under the hood for it? Im concerned with header room, steering shaft..... Keep in mind i used a S10 clip.... Has anyone squeezed a 454 into a 48 truck? What are my challenges? Pics? Advice? So many questions and not enough knowledge.......HELP!!!!

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
I installed my Pirate Jack brake booster and master cylinder kit. It also included a automatic combination proportioning valve. One thing it did not include was any sort of instructions, not that i would have read them, but sometimes we need direction. I ran the rear brake line but i stopped because i was too impatient and cross threaded the front brake port on the valve. So i walked away from it before i messed it up more. Its aluminum so it wasnt hard to mess up. Having seconds thoughts about it and considering going with a manual valve instead. Thoughts? Advice?

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Hello everyone, its been a long time since I work on my truck or post pics. I was promoted at work and I travel a lot now, so I have very little time to work on it. The last few weekends I have dedicated them to the brake lines. I finally finished them yesterday and here it is. This is the first time I run brake lines, I am sure it has been done better but I think they turned out okay. I used brake lines I bought at my local NAPA store. They are metal covered with a green anti corrosion paint, so they are hard to see with black chassis.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Welded a small tab to the frame so I could secure the line and keep it from rattleing loose.
