Re: 71 Ol' Blue
The hinge pins being loose could cause some of the alignment issues. I'd try to slightly loosen both hinges and then shut the door and push/pull to get it lined up...then open carefully and tighten....but first, I'd put a better hinge on because loose hinges can really mess with alignment

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Guys,
It has been awhile since I have posted anything, but I have been building up a large stock pile of parts to install. I have got a lot of work ahead of me. Which will start in Dec. got a week off. All new front end parts, power steering, power brakes, new engine parts, new litghts, emblems, fix the door gap and the list goes on and on. I can't wait to get started.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
You can go 6" in the rear before you need a c-notch unless your going to be using your truck to haul stuff then I would probably notch it. A lot of members on here have 6" rear drops with no notch. I only notched mine cause I have a 7" drop and plan to bag it eventually. I say go for the 4/6 drop or even 4.5/6 if you like a little rake. If you just do a 2/4 you will probably wish you did a 4/6. Good luck with it.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Wow, just got through your whole thread. This was a truly GREAT find for $4k. I would love to find a truck that nice with or without a motor for that kind of money. I know you have spent alot more on it since you got it but what a solid foundation to start with.
BTW, that's super cool that you went with the 327 vintage engine. Looking forward to updates. |

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Well, haven't gotten much done to say the least. But got my new gauges in that look good. The lens is pretty scratched up and I need a new circuit strip. So now I have to figure out what direction I want to go. White faced or stock? Here are a few pics. The first pic is of my current gauges and the one I just got.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Nice progress!! Here's a pic of my gauges before and after. I just did them in white face with new lens and black numbers, added Sunpro tach and vacuum/boost gauge. I'm also going to be running blue LED's. Give you an idea.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Got some more new parts in today....Just a couple more parts and I can get the suspension dropped and completed. I got a great deal on these parts off ebay. The coil springs are not listed as CPP. But when they came in I was surprised to see CPP on the box. Oh and no one else placed bids on the springs. I know guys here are always looking for good deals on parts and thought I would share.
