Re: New project : 72 Suburban

I got the glaze knocked down this morning ( pics are from yesterday when I started) and shot another coat of primer on. Tomorrow if all goes well I just might get some paint laid down on the hatch

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Very nice work on the hatch! I've got a 72 we're just getting started on for my wife and her hatch is not good either. I did get some from Leon that are better so sometime I'll be doing what you are. But that may be a few months.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Bolted the hatch back on the Suburban this evening. Have to fine tune it and turn the one shock right side up, plus put the seal on and then the glass and it will be all wrapped up.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Very nice work! I think the shock mod is going to have to happen on ours too. I think it might be less finger ripping and less heads getting whacked from the original holder upper.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Today I started back on the Suburban to finish little odds and ends that I have been putting off for a while now. Removed the windshield (which needs replaced anyhow) in order to paint the dashboard its original color. If I ever figure out why my pics arent showing up in my email I will post what progress pic I have so far lol

This is the top corner on the passenger side and is the worst spot that I will have to repair

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Today I started on the rear of the Burb to get it ready for bodywork and then paint eventually. Removed the lower trim on both sides in the rear and the rear bumper. Started to DA the driver side this afternoon will probably resume after the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Started on the bodywork today. So far so good. Got most of it roughed in so tomorrow I will probably prep the passenger quarter where it needs mud and go from there.

Looks good so far. I can't say I hate body work but it isn't my most favorite thing to do. I'm not very good at it either, I get in a hurry.

Thank you Leon. So far it doesnt look bad. Today Im working on the kitchen. Sanded the drywall this morning and just finished painting. Im not sure which one Im worse at doing, Drywall or bodywork lol. At least if I mess up on one that will be a learning experience on what not to do on the other LOL

Primer is Kirker .... The red is the original paint code mixed and put into a rattle can at Napa. The white is canvas white by Rust-Oleum in the rattle can bc it is a near perfect match to the weathered and faded original white on the bottom of the fenders and doors.
