I'm not sure there is a wrong location. I know there is a picture in the book, but I'm betting a lot of them were installed according to the owners wishes and I don't consider that a wrong location....

Just my 2¢ worth.

Learn something new everyday. Perhaps they used what they had. Even a kit would only provide a guide. I'm using "E" screws.

Is it an iPhone or other Apple device? If so, have a look these posts I made years ago about how to fix the issue.

Good info guys, thanks for sharing.

Here’s a side by side comparison of the 3/4-1T and 1/2T bolts and an example of the markings on OEM lug nuts for each.

Short bed402...Dalmatian, yes..concrete door greeter if it wasn't so heavy we would go for a ride. The build sheet looks to be p13 but having been stashed between the carpet and asphalt floor pan liner for 48 years that is the one spot that is stained so bad it is really hard to pick out. Even with strong light and a magnifier.

Re: Anyone have this original in-bed spare tire carrier mounted?

So I got my Side Mount, hardware, and bolt from LockDoc. For the top screws I used extras I had from my tailgate handle hardware (the screws that go in from the backside of the tailgate into the handle).

My biggest problem was my Rally Wheels with 275 60 15 tires. Even the one I got 71K5Randy, that is the longer one from GM, it barely reached the rim. So I got one from Ebay that is 8 inches long. It works! Though since its a bolt and not a carriage it requires a washer. Sadly I had to order 5 LOL

If you look closely, I have the GM lock - which I also got from LockDoc

Re: Anyone have this original in-bed spare tire carrier mounted?

Thanks 72 tigger! I am really excited to have a spare tire set. I also got from Leon Jack/Tools and then a bag from AASmedic that he makes (which is super nice). K5Randy sold me the longest GM bolt makes and I am storing that one away (I am toying with the idea of going OEM rims). It is so amazing the level of support/help this site provides. The whole "Spare Tire" project was a team effort for sure! Now if I can only find 2 bolts for the Rally hub, I can put that on too. To bad the Rim looks like crap but my brother got it for me for FREE. One cannot complain when getting stuff for free ;-)

As for the present you see, I assume you mean the Craftsman's table saw red box? That is actually my gift to my brother-n-law ha!

Edit: Just noticed I did not post two of my other SM photos. I think the tailgate screws I had left over look pretty close to what should be at the top mount location.

Re: Anyone have this original in-bed spare tire carrier mounted?

Hi Leon, I get an "Invalid Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator" message for that link. I'd only look for a replacement if it is 8 inches and a carriage bolt... Which I looked high and low and none are to be found. I have talked with a few bolt companies that lead me to a few others - no joy at all.

I was referring to the Rally wheel cap bolts/screws. Not sure on the link, it works OK for me.

You might try typing "rally cap screws/bolts" into the Google search box above without the quotes. Just be sure and click on the circle in front of 67-72chevytrucks.com.

perhaps the tread was admin hidden or something - that happen to AASmedic bag sale thread when his premium status elapsed.

I found this one, going to try there: Rally cap screws for mounting the caps to wheel. C10 K5 4x4 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=798080
