Re: Cheap trick patina 70
Finally get to be in on one of these builds from the start!!......spent the last week reading all of the others. Sucked not being able to comment/voice an opinion on the threads since I was a few years late. Hoping to have a 71 or 72 C10 p/u by this summer to start on but it'll be more on par with Pop's truck. You do this in 3 months and you'll have to change your name to Super Duper Fly....looking forward to this short (but fun) ride. Agree on the Edelbrock removal btw. Have never bought their valve covers just because of that.

Re: Cheap trick patina 70
I'm late to the party but I'm in. Love the build, motor looks great. What did you use to paint the block? I'm in the process of building an LQ9 right now too and have the similar plans. I'm camming it and switching over to a car LS6 intake but was really close to running that same Edelbrock intake. I plan to paint my heads also, I think it looks better that way. I'm interested to see what headers you run with the dropmembers. Love the wheels too.

The original wheels I was going to run are not going to be ran. There has been a change of plans. I of course scuffed the entire block and degreased it. Then tack rag and sealed with metal lock. Allowed it to sit for 2 hrs and then too coated it with satin hot rod flatz burnt orange. I like the end result. |

Re: Cheap trick patina 70
OK--gotta ask-I looked on the Google for "metal lock". No joy. Is that a brand name or what?

Re: Cheap trick patina 70
Metal lock is a sems product. I only recommend it to etch and lock the metL down. It's hard stuff once it dries and it makes it tough to sand. But it's a great product

OK, what is the change of plans? I too like the wheels that you pictured earlier...

Eric, do the hooker manifolds come that color or did you paint them? If paint, what did you use on them? Motor looks great!

Re: Cheap trick patina 70
I know the Intros are probably a better quality wheel, but they look flat and boring compared to the Gassers. I vote Gassers.

The Intros are the wheel I would use if it was mine.

Re: Cheap trick patina 70
If your going to run those fancy wheels your gona need a front runner on that motor.
