Re: WOW........2023 original miles
I noticed the fan shroud too. Is the same as a V8 shroud? Straight 6's usually had a metal pan shroud....never seen a full shroud on a 6,...that is cool. I want to do that too, but with the electric fan setup. Very nice truck!

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
It is my understanding that all I6's had a full shroud if and when the truck had AC, auto trans or hd colling added, and no they did not just add the same commonly found sb/V8 piece as the I6 one does have its own p/n. Mel

250 , auto fan shroud, I''ll buy it if you decide to part the truck, lol. I would like to find a shroud like that though. Would like to see more pic of the engine compartment along with the auto trans set up. Very nice truck, good luck with it.

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
For anyone who has been trying to open the second link I added to the Ebay post, I have made the correction and added it as a 3rd link in the Ebay posting. The 3rd link has all of the pictures that should have pulled up by clicking on the 2nd link. Sorry about any confusion.

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
Hey, Harley....I've already commented on your truck (nice), but just curious--has the oil filter been changed since the mileage is so low? Wondering what it looks like and the markings on it. Also, are the tags on the front suspension springs? I also noticed all the tower clamps for hoses--do those have any markings or date codes?
Lot of questions, but I'm a nut for this original stuff |

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
Harley--Here's a picture of my front spring on my '72 Cheyenne. I still had both tags on the right and the left springs. The truck has 53,000 original miles but has been sitting out in the elements for 40 years, including Kansas for the first 15 years in the snow. Are yours still there? Just curious.

I'm not where the truck is tonight. I'll look at the springs tomorrow and take a picture of the tags, if they're on there.

Hey Harley...if it's not too much trouble, take a closeup picture of the front headlights.

From the picture of the front straight on, you can see the circle where they both say Power Beam.

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
Harley...could you take a picture under the hood on the bottom side. I'd like to see how much blue is under the hood. Thanks so very much. If I lived closer, I'd stop and take a good look at this truck and photograph all the details. Fascinating...Casey

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
Bazarra brought up some very interesting things to look for if you ever find one of these rare low mileage trucks or any vehicle for that matter. I have bought many new trucks over the years and put 2K miles on them in the first month or two and they still looked brand new. BUT, I have never stored one for 41 years to see how the elements change the frame under carriage etc.
I have owned alot of Chevys and GM cars and the company is notorious for not coating things to prevent surface rust from forming. It actually kinda pisses me off when I crawl under a new one to find surface rust on differentials or other areas left unprotected by GM. Regardless of actual mileage this truck is SUPER nice. They ain't making any more of them. I would love to own it. |

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
Here is the link with the additional pictures that were requested. Also included is the page that was missing from the appraisal (which was the cover sheet) and the inspection papers from 2005 and from 2010 documenting the mileage.

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
Would be interesting to see if you have any earlier documented inspection forms or anything documenting the mileage. I found a lot of that info in the 71 blazer I restored inside the owner's manual including a hand written page noting all the maintenance done and at what mileage which was really cool to have...

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
I don't doubt this beautiful pickup in the least. I've owned several very low mile examples and 40+ years of even garaged storage can cause a certain amount of surface rust to undercarriage and engine areas. Many factory metal pieces were never even as much coated with paint or preservative and instantly surfaced rusted before they arrived at the dealer. The exhausts were carbon steel not any galvanized or stainless steel parts back then. In most cases, humidity and warmer air over cool concrete floors will make even lightly painted items surface rust over years of storage.
I got a couple of other projects now so I am not on this one but it is tempting. If Joesjunk is bidding on it, rest assured it is the real deal. He knows everything there is to know about factory original vehicles. Good luck Joe.

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
I've owned several fine example of original survivor trucks and a few very low mile, barely used ones and see no reason to doubt this one. I also understand why someone would require more than just the claims of the seller...on buying "anything". If value is based on rare low mileage and original condition you'd have to be a fool,or have more money than sense,to buy without inspecting...IMO. I think if anyone was going to counterfeit a truck they wouldn't choose an example such as this. If they did, they'd probably go farther and make it more than what it is with a new SPID...or none! This truck simply does not raise any flags. Also, only the most savvy and appreciative of these trucks would even be attracted to this truck...or someone who has pockets full of money and no conscience who wants an easy truck to build a custom off of,like Boyd Coddington would have done.
