Re: The Egg Hauler.... not much of a build
hahah you guys are too much! For now the plan is to drive it while I get the 3 speed w/ overdrive sorted out then put that in. I'll probably run the stock 250 for as long as I can and then I think I would seriously consider the turbo build.

I picked up some 15x8 stock steel wheels off a cucv Blazer today. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but I couldn't pass them up. Wish I had some tires to put on them...just don't think my white walls could handle that much of a stretch |

Snagged a pic of the new wheels.
Funny how when I had my lifted 4Runner on 32s the tires looked so small. Now the 31s on these wheels look giant beside my truck |

I absolutely love this truck. As soon as i am "done" my 69 I'm going on a mad hunt for a 66 stepper. Good work, love the farm look.

Re: The Egg Hauler.... not much of a build
Sold the tires off the wheels I just picked up and couldnt help but throw one on just to see what it would look like. Makes me wish I had some tires to go on these fattys now! I'll probably just end up selling them, but imagining what it might look like is making it a little tougher decision to make.

Re: The Egg Hauler.... not much of a build
Hey rusty..I would call them baby moons. I have no idea where they are from. They came off my uncles 46 chevy truck that he had back in the 80's. Not original to that truck of course.

Re: The Egg Hauler.... not much of a build
Well, I sold the wheels last weekend at the Charlotte Auto Fair....I found two more 15x8s on craigslist where my cousin lives, so he got them for me yesterday. I will pick them up from him this weekend when I go back home for his wedding. Maybe I will hold onto these a little longer than the last set.
Also been working on getting the overdrive transmissions apart and cleaned up. All the overdrive parts are looking good, just the gears from the main case are junk from setting without the side covers on for what appears to be a pretty good while. I've got a spare trans with a good set of gears ready to go in though. Slowly, but surely.... |

Re: The Egg Hauler.... not much of a build
Do you go to Goodguys in the fall? I'm hoping to make that one this year. We always have something going on then but I really want to go. I bet you got several offers. Your truck is a good looking truck.....

Never been to a Goodguys show, just checked it out and looks pretty cool. Thanks...no real offers on the truck, just lots of folks asking about it though. It does feel good to see the interest that people take in it! Ever head of C and C automotive in Thomasville? I guess the fella that owns it stopped by to look at my truck and said he had a 292 he pulled from his 66 in his shop that he would sell. That's what I really would like to have... |
