Can you post some pictures of the work you did on the bed? Like how you went about raising it.

Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC

UPDATES!!!! Computers back and the truck runs!! I made a set of "tubs" where I had to cut the bed.. I used the pieces I cut out of the bed so the finish matched. Now its time to start knocking all of the loose ends off of the list.. I finished the brake lines the other night, just need to bleed the brakes now. I have to fab some shock mounts for the front, measure and buy rear shocks and install. I bought a complete wiring harness from EZ wiring that I need to layout and install so the little things like headlights, turn signals and brake lights work. Finish plumbing the air ride, a little sheet metal work here and there and the list goes on.. Getting close now!!!

Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC

Its funny how I've never seen tubs done this way, they look great. Blend right in, practically factory looking and doesn't waste material. I've been thinking about a mini tub and figured '65 fleet side wheel wells as the best option, or you jump to use new materials, that's why I'm addicted to this site, great ingenuity.

Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC

Been a little while since I updated this.. I have been hammering away on the truck.. I removed the old wiring harness and installed a 12 circuit from EZ Wire that is just about finished... I installed the radiator and electric fan, cut the top of the rad support and fabbed up a few pieces around the rad cap.. I also modified the stock taillight brackets and installed the 34 Ford taillights.. I know they are on upside down but thats the way I like them!

Re: Project "Poison Ivy" 54 GMC

Thanks for all the compliments guys.. I loved my 64 truck and hated to get rid of it but couldn't pass up the deal I made on it... The 54 had big shoes to fill taking the place of my 64... I put almost 20k on the 64 in the 2 yers I owned it.. I am ready to drive the wheels off this thing!

Seeing as you brought your '64 up, I can see the '54 has original door art, but find it hard to believe one guy could be so fortunate to have two great shop trucks. Was the '64 an original shop truck? Great work making it look original if not.
