Re: Project “Blue Bomb” (rebirth of a 1970 c30)

The throttle linkage doesn't fit either, so I had to modify my original shift linkage to fit by threading the ends. I bought a throttle stud from edelbrock, but the hole was not large enough (or threaded) so I had to drill and tap the throttle stud in addition to threading the rod. It functions great and everything moves freely.

Re: Project “Blue Bomb” (rebirth of a 1970 c30)

There are apparently a lot of ways to make the throttle return spring work, but what seemed to be the cheapest was just buying a new spring, pinching the end a bit so it clears the idle screw, and attaching to what I think is an engine lift lug. Fits pretty good.

The vac and pcv hoses didn't fit, and they were aged anyway so those got replaced.

Fuel lines are another thing that doesn't fit q-jet to edelbrock. I'm waiting on a new hard line from inline tube so I can have a filter and only short lengths of rubber hose. I'll post pics when I get that going.

Carb installed.

Gear oil.

Brakes bled.

Tail lights installed.

Not 100% finished... but it's driving again!

Re: Project “Blue Bomb” (rebirth of a 1970 c30)

Didn’t quite get as much done as I wanted today, but made some decent progress. Just need to weld up a few more tacks and prep the rear brace, which will be bolted in place to box in the wood. Tried to keep everything as low profile as possible, and tight with the outer tire width.

Re: Project “Blue Bomb” (rebirth of a 1970 c30)

Made some more progress today. Rear brace is installed (removable for wood access), welded on d-rings, drilled holes for all the lights, and did some light sanding to get off the mill scale. Halfway installed the class IV receiver. Of course I ran out of weld wire in the middle of everything, but you gotta expect things like that.

The C30 looks amazing. I wished I could have found one nearby for a reasonable price. I am doing a C10 on a 2014 1-ton chassis instead and my on the 1-ton chassis is a ratty rust bucket. Haha

Keep up the great work!

Re: Project “Blue Bomb” (rebirth of a 1970 c30)

Thanks everyone.

Finally reinstalled fender emblems (blech). What a pain. Had to recruit my wife to help at one point (small hands).

Also, discovered a pinhole heater core leak, so got that going too.
