I'm an A1C in the Air Force, I've been stationed at Mcconnell AFB for a year now, first base. I am a 3C231 (Tech Control!) and I am typing this from work right now

I saw the N.K.A.W.T.G. post, Thats our base's motto, 22 ARG, got like 30 something refuelers here. But I wouldnt know anything about them, I sit at a desk most of the time

Medically retired out from a bad HALO jump.

US Navy Reserve- O4- Intelligence/Training officer, NFKC in a few places. REMF placed here to get other REMF's out to the fronts.

US Army, 1984-1990. Ordnance Officer, specialty Missile Materiel Maintenance. Went in as worm-dirt (2LT), retired commission as CPT in 1990.

Basic at Knox, Advanced at Riley, schooled at Huntsville, AL, stationed 4 years in Schofield Barracks, HI (somebody's gotta do it

) with the 25th Division. Spent my last year at Ft. Sill, III Corps. Missed Desert Storm by 3 weeks, my replacement was there 2 years.

Wouldn't trade the experience for the world.

I did my basic at Ft.Sill.We were wet bulb for 2 weeks.It was crazy hot,probably set a record.Aug.1981

i was in the navy 1972-75,did a tour in NAM in the DMZ.
i was on a AO there in nam then on a destroyer when i got back from NAM.went to europe for six months then got out in march of 75

A friend told me once that his last unit had t-shirts that said, " College Education to break it, High School diploma to fix it." The pilots didn't think it was as funny as the maintenance people in the unit did.

We once had a plane with virtually no write ups on it, after a flight with one idiot pilot it landed with over 24 fuel leaks alone! It was grounded for over a month being repaired, including about 2 weeks in my fuel hangar! Talk about p!$$ed off maintenance people. And guess who had to go in the tanks to fix most of those fuel leaks.

A friend of mine's son recently got out of the Army after two tours in Iraq and his wife of 3 months died of a heart attack while he was deployed, I assume over the stress of him being gone. She was only about 24. The Army approved his Hardship Discharge fortuneately.

My son is stationed in New Mexico along with his wife right now, still in upgrade training after finishing Tech School.
A cousin in the USAF who I never know where he is since he can't say where he goes or what he does.
Another friend in my unit recently came back from a deployment from the sand box.

5 years, 9 months, 13 days US Army Infantry between 1962 to 1968

Drill Instructor 2nd Inf Div Advanced Combat Academy (Korea) taught ambush techniques, partroling, and demolitions. One year not on jump status, all other time with 82nd, 101st, and 173 Airborne Brigade except for short TDY to Little Creek, Va. for USMC Amphipious Recon training.

As a combat vet from the Nam with the 101st I tip my hat to those in Iraq, I would much prefer the jungle! Thanks to all who served and those who support, supported them in word, deed, or prayer.

Wow, looks like I'm the only Coastie on the boards. Here goes:
Almost 4 years U.S. Coast Guard Active
USCGC Gallatin
USCGC Steadfast
Plan on reinlisting for 6 more years in June.
Currently OS2, should be making E-6 before I reinlist though. (crosses fingers)

And I know I'm going to get a lot of Puddle Pirate jokes. I've been at sea for the past 2 months now in the Pacific on a 210' cutter. If we make it home in time this will be my first holiday on land since I joined almost 4 years ago.

missed a year tour to Afghanistan by 3 days...

Just got back from my weekend drill and discovered this thread for the first time. I guess it was because I started tech school about the same time this started. It was a very interesting read and am very greatful for you oldtimers paving the way for us younger guys-also all the boys I serve alongside of. It's why I joined the military. I'm very proud of what I do and every drill weekend I go home with a positive feeling knowing I did my best to help my 'team' out!

It looks like I'll be getting to go on my first deployment on a humanitarian mission to Panama in February. I'm crossing my fingers as I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but those that I work with are very impressed with my work ethic and elected to have me come along even though I'm not a 5 level yet.
