Re: Lil 307 that could....

I remember him talking about the Summit brand of heads, but I had not heard about the intakes or the pistons. Thanks for the info

I am very happy with it, the Summit intakes are made by Weiand and are identical in every aspect, casting, machine work, design..... The pistons are Summit re-branded Silvo-lite hypers by Keith Black. With a true 1.560 compression height they are great for a budget build street motor.

I know what you mean.....I have a Pro Products intake and it took tons of work to get it to fit right... basically I polished a turd.

You should talk to Txfirefighter he was the one that originally informed me about how Summit re-brands products with their name and sells them at a discount....

Thanks for good write up!
I've been looking through this thread carefully to find out what parts are needed.

So I'll try to post links to find out if Im in the right direction and you might help me if I'm mistaken somewhere.

Vortec 906 heads
Summit Stage 1 Vortec intake
Summit K1103 Cam Kit
Cloyes double roller chain set
Felpro head gasket
Exhaust valves

Re: Lil 307 that could....

Those heads on ebay are the correct Vortec heads, but the seller doesn't have a very good feedback rating. Plus with the cost of purchasing those used heads, and if they need some work to be 100%, you might be better off with a set of new heads. Either new GM heads or possible the Summit Vortec heads.

Everything else looks good, except you should not need any exhaust valves, unless you just want to upgrade the stock Vortec valves.

I believe this may be what you were looking for from 'Alex's Parts' These are the upgraded valve springs, retainers and locks that screamin_c10 used.

Re: Lil 307 that could....

Thanks Capt'n! Lets see what happens, I'll start to the small things, new plugs, adjust carb and ignition and be happy with my 307 for a while! There is other things to consider before going over the engine..
