Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.

For my ebrake... I did use the S10 one, but I had to remake the arm itself for length and to look right. The computer I mounted above the heater on the passenger's side with the wiring going down the right side and out through the firewall there. Of course it helped going with a Painless Harness for the engine and chopped up the S10 harness for the chassis and ABS.

Cheers,
Ted.

I perused your thread for a pic of your e-brake, couldn't find any. I would certainly like to see how it turned out.

P.S. I love the creativity in your build, lots of good ideas.

Thanks. I definitely underestimated the time line on this thing. The good news is that my wife is preggers and she wants this truck done, so she OK'd letting me take some parts to my uncle's body shop and let them finish up the sanding and dents. I never knew how difficult it was to sand and smooth out lines/dents and get the body clean.

I'm going to try and get the doors flush once it gets a little warmer here. I only hope it doesn't require what you've had to do to yours Kabwe. I lack the patience and skill.

I'm going to use the s-10 fuel tank and run the filler through the bed floor, possibly in a low profile truck tool box. I believe you can run a corvette fuel filter and you don't have to change the fuel pump if you had the 2.2L engine.

I'll have to double check all of that, but thats what I remember off the top of my head. My cousin is the brains helping me out, otherwise I wouldn't have a clue.

Lots of info on here if you're doing an s-10 LSx swap.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.

yeah i am currently working on a 47 gmc and my brain has never been this worked before in my life. There is so much thinking that goes into these ground up restorations and then adding in electrical just takes it to a new level. im excited to put a 5.3 in it though

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.

I need some help on this one, I've considered about a thousand different paint and color options. I've been considering "Legend Lime Green" that was on the 05-06 F**d Mustangs and maybe some small gray or black pinstriping.

But after I saw the "Mocha Steel Metallic" on the newer GM models I've kind of been jumping back and forth. I know I definitely want some pinstriping done afterwards and I'm not sure how great it would look with the brown. I know kustombrad http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=320546 did some stripes with brown and it looked great. Any input appreciated.

If it helps, I'm planning on these wheels.

Hey Groyd, I like the Mocha Brown the best, but that is just my preferance. I love the wheels.
How's the wiring going?

I was dead set on the green and then I thought, "I don't see many people with brown." I guess because it is so neutral. I definitely don't want anything too flashy.

The wiring had been about halfway done for about a week and a half. We should hopefully finish it up this week. (Fingers crossed)

ABS Delete

I got rid of all the ABS stuff and put a proportioning valve that mounts to the master cylinder/booster. I looked everywhere trying to find fittings on the s10forum for the proportioning valve. A guy at Autozone ended up letting me go to the back with my parts and just fit everything. Here is what I ended up with. I got the bracket and lines that attach the MC to the prop valve from waylayedinc.com, here is an image of the sizes and the mount.

I don't know if anyone else is going this route, but if so these part numbers might save some time at Autozone. I used adapters for the fronts
PAA-R350 (#561007)
3/8"-24 to 1/2"-20

PAA-R340 (#561006)
3/8"-24 to 7/16"-24
I then used inverted flares to attach the factory s10 lines to the adapters to the proportioning valve.

BLU-4C (#845016)

BLU-5C (#845017)?

The lines need to be cleaned up and moved around a little, but you get the idea. This may be a bunch of wasted info, but it might help somebody save a little time.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.

Man you saved my life, I have needed that diagram for 2 weeks. I switched all my '85 s10 brake lines over to newer bigger lines because my s10 was a rust machine and I wanted to be safe. I know I could have taken my brake lines to the AP store but now I don't have to. THANK YOU

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.

I moved my e-brake to the floor on the drivers side.

PO had a bunch of lights in the dash. I cut them out for the A/C controls, and moved the wiper controls in the choke slot. I'll fill the wiper spot later this week.

The wife said she wouldn't set foot in the truck if it didn't have A/C. I had to cut up the inner fender to mount my battery and cut out a space for my A/C compressor.

Seems like I end up grinding off about three times the amount that I weld. I'm not getting the hang of this craft yet. The cheapo welder doesn't help either.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.

I like that brake handle location that looks sharp, and I was wondering just this morning where I was gonna put the battery, your idea looks like a good one that I may have to do myself. Looks good.

My wife said the same thing -
Still not a compressor in my truck LOL!

I don't blame you though. Those OK summers get HOT. The layout looks nice and clean too.
Don't sweat the grinding. It's all part of the learning process. You're doing great!

Well if you are planning on the Coy's C-55 wheel then you better call and see if they have your size now. Those wheels have been discontinued and they only have limited sizes left. I wanted 17's but there was none left, so I got the 18's instead.

I think I've sold myself on just getting some black steel wheels and whitewall tires. Not sure yet though.

Just got the Vintage Air unit home. I'll try and get it at least mounted later this week. Expect some questions and updates.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.

I forgot to mention that I went against using the s10 gas tank, because you had to change the entire sending unit and not just the fuel pump. I ended up using a camaro tank out of a 1994 I think. The fuel lines to the filter are ran, I didn't have enough to even come close to making it to the engine.

It doesn't hang too low.

Vintage Air unit mounted under the dash. I've yet to do any plumbing besides the four lines that go from the unit through the firewall.
