Re: Project Underfunded / next phase - LSx carb'd to LSx efi

Yes...its supposed to stall in the 2200-2300 range. I'll find out soon...hopefully. I'm just waiting for the right time...that's when I got a strong back to come over and help me lift it off the floor and onto the jack, and steady it while under the truck.

I plan to put more power to it (my 4L85e) in the future so it may get some simple upgrades along the way if needed.

Re: Project Underfunded / next phase - LSx carb'd to LSx efi

actually it looks pretty nasty up under there!
I've got alot of dirty areas because of trans leaks, paint scraped off my clean frame, etc...its been thru a battle or two!

no biggie.....someday when I get everything about how I want it, I'll blow it apart again for paint and interior.

Nice progress Kurt! I looked at those Gm performance trannys the othe day at the power tour. They look bullet proof! I think it is gonna work great in your truck.

Re: Project Underfunded / next phase - LSx carb'd to LSx efi

Thanks guys. As far as intake....its what "a trade" provided. My long range plans include more of a carb'd looking setup with a single plane intake, injectors/rails, and 1000cfm 4150 style throttle body.

Picked up the trans from Pace Performance, was several hundred cheaper then Summit. Looks like now though (via ads) that La Fontaine is going after their business?

Re: Project Underfunded / next phase - LSx carb'd to LSx efi

driveshaft is here! Cooler fittings installed (one fitting felt loose going in, hopefully its ok), lines going in tomorrow. Haven't found adapters 1/4 NPSM to 1/4 NPT and has the long tube end for one side...so quick disconnects will be only on the radiator side for now until I find something for the trans end. Has HD 1350 long yoke.

can you see anything different? rear yoke has 1350 caps on shaft...1310's for the pinion end. just swap the rear u-joints when I get me new rear w/1350 pinion.

d-shaft in, trans linkage in, trans electronics connected, need to drill some new holes for the new x-member/trans support location and bolt it down. plumbing next...then exhaust and some housekeeping....and its time to hit the key!

Local shop...Collin County Truck Parts off 380. He made a new one for me over a yr ago...so just had him cut it and add new 1350 ends to it and then rebalance it.

Re: Project Underfunded / next phase - LSx carb'd to LSx efi

OK......finally its in and all together:

handy little mod for my 3ton floor jack turning it into a transmission jack

temporary tray and mount location for ecm/tcm...eventually to be mounted on the firewall or hidden inside when I do Vintage A/C upgrade.

Hughes locking dipstick

new 3/8" / -6 AN hose and hardware for trans cooler

upgraded shaft w/1350 yoke/u-joint up front and 1350/1310 "bastard' setup in rear until I get my new rear...then it will all be 1350.

4L85e in place, Megashifter linkage, -6AN cooler hose/fittings, rear poly mount

the trucks new "EFI" look. I'm sure it'll change before too long.

don't have the pedal thru the wall yet.....but wasn't working?

Where did you run your transmission cooler lines to? The radiator or a separate trans cooler?

Re: Project Underfunded / next phase - LSx carb'd to LSx efi

Well folks.......just like in the video...the truck was starting and idling but little else. I wasn't posting about it as I was beginning to loose faith with the harness builder, and to some degree the tuner. Well...I'm glad to say we finally resolved it. I had removed parts from our TBSS to swap into the truck for troubleshooting and felt like it was th pedal assembly. I finally removed the Interceptor scan gauge I had in the TBSS and hooked it up to the truck. It confirmed a issue with the pedal via a dtc, which was enough to get my tuner to send another pedal assembly. Plugged it in the evening and it worked! Was able to clear the dtc's also. This was the 1st time I revved it up since going to efi. Will need some learning or possible retune to clear a bog issue...and I'm hoping to be able to iron everything out this weekend and go hit the track!!! Since this trans should be able to hold it....I'll get my 1st full run out of it in the 1/8th. I may have a pinion angle mismatch issue...will need to investigate further tomorrow. How many degrees of angle can you have safely? Like 5* total or could it be higher....like 8*?With both yokes within 1-2* of each other?

I am ready to run this thing hard...just hope it's ready for it tomorrow...or I may be beating on a sick pony
