Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10
I have been driving the truck around. Needs some fine tuning but drives nice. I had a air line too close tho the header and blew a line at a stop light. Good thing I was at a stop when it happened. I did some on the side of the road surgery and got her to drive home. Today I am going to fix that issue with a re route and some heat wrap.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10
So I have been driving the piss out of the truck. I worked a few bugs out and put on a new fuel pump. The rear wheel wells still need to be finished and a stereo needs to be installed. That will complete "phase 1" of the build. I will now start collecting my parts for "phase 2" of the build. I want to order the front Porterbuilt dropmember soon. I also want to make the motor fuel injected with the Edlebrock kit for better performance and fuel economy. I may even drop in a better stronger motor depending on what my check book allows. I want to also put higher profile tires on for a better ride. I can't now due to the steering shaft clearance. It would also be nice to have a four speed transmission to drop in when the phase 2 work is being done. I plan to kick off the phase 2 build in about 6 months. Till then I will enjoy the truck as my daily driver.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10
Well The time is come to revamp and update Blackbeard. I started three days ago on the upgrades. I will be pulling out the old Chevy 350 with the three speed transmission and upgrading to a nice LS1 with a 4L80E transmission. Also I will be converting the front end from the stock drop member to a Porterbuilt extreme kit. Out back I will be putting in a Accu air kit and going to a posi rear end with lower gearing 373's. i'm sure a few more things will change as I go. I have about 90% of all the parts that I will need already sitting in boxes.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10
Here's what I've got done in 3 days of work. Front end off, motor and trans pulled, interior removed, or drop member removed, and new Porterbuilt drop member going in. Sweating my balls off out here in Vegas working in the shop with a half ass swamp cooler. Sorry for sideways and upside down pic.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10
Looking good. I've been following this thread since you started it.
If you want your images to post properly it's a simple matter of holding your iphone a certain way when you take the pictures (as seen in the pic below). If you want to know why this happens or how to correct the issue with pics you've already taken, see this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=743225 |

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10
Well the project is expanding like it always does. Decided to go frame off and do it right. Full tear down. I cut the hole for the trans hump, prepped the fire wall for some shaving, welded in the rack notches, and pulled the cab off the frame. I plan on tearing down the rest off the frame and sandblasting. More part showing up daily. Sorry again for the sideways photos. I'm still learning how to properly take the photos😂

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10
Stripped the frame down and mocked up the Porterbuilt front suspension. Finished up the welding and ready for sandblasting. Oh and my Slosh Tubz arrived!

Those slosh tubz are nice products. I fitted mine a few months back and can't wait to see how they look finished out.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10
Got all my parts and frame prepped for paint before I went out of town for the weekend. Luckily my father painted all the parts for me while I was gone. Today I was able to get the Porterbuilt front end put on. I also went over and picked up my transmission from getting inspected and serviced. It's now ready for paint. Hopefully I'll have a rolling chassis soon.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10
Found out the ball joints were wrong today. Unfortunately I had already pressed in the lower ball joint's. So I had to spend a few hours getting that fixed. Was able to finish up the front end after that. Tech note the 63 to 70 ball joints will not fit in CPP drop spindles. You need the 73 to 87 ball joints for that to work.

Finished up prep on the firewall today. Also was able to paint the transmission and install the fuel pump. Can't wait to drop this motor in.
