Found me a beautiful straight clean box for $100
The catch is I had to unbolt it from the frd
He just wanted it gone. I was fine with that.

Now I won't have to try and restore my old beat-up box.

I get that same soreness and tire easily when working on my 66. Since that makes 2 of us it must be the 66 trucks. LOL

I always like how these trucks look even without a bed.
That isn't rust on the back of the cab, that's the original county orange.

My Cab Corners arrived today from Dan's here in Portland.

They sent me two different brands.

TriPlus for the Driver's side and I don't know for the Passenger's.
I will be exchanging the passanger's side for a Tri-Plus brand.

The off brand is just way too cheaply made. The metal is terribly obviously thinner.
The shape of the body lines are very under shaped.

The TriPlus is far superior.

Pressure washed the frame rear section.
I'll be doing the rear gas tank upgrade and cab corners while I have the box off.

What kind of tank are you planning to use? Just wondering because I'm at about that stage on my 66. The plan right now is to use a 64-66 mustank tank. I've seen a couple used in our trucks and they are almost a drop in and very little hangs below the frame. They are only 16 gal., though, and also the sender needs to be modified to 0-90 ohms.

I thought the 60's trucks used 30 ohm fuel gages??
I need a tank bad. I hate it in the cab.. makes me real fricking nervous!

I have two tanks to choose from.
My first choice will be a huge 79 suburban tank I got off my donor - similar to the blazer:

If I don't like how it's coming together, I got one off of the F250 that I got the service box off of. It's looks to be about half the depth of the suburban tank.

I'll try and load some pics of the tanks this afternoon.

Here's the Frd F250 gas tank.
I see now it won't fit between the rails.
If I have to go below the rails, I might as well use the huge suburban tank because it fits between the rails, so I'm guessing it won't hang any lower than the frd tank mounted below the rails.

I found two clean doors. Driver's and
Passenger's.
$325 for both.
After driving around looking at rusty
bottom doors, I figured I had better get
both of these.
I'll get some pics up later.
I'm tempted to buy the hood also.

Well Okay,
I got to drive it some before I tore the old box off.
It was fun.

I now have most of the patch panels to do the bad areas of the outer edge of the floor, cab corners and rocker panels.
I still have the box off so I started cleaning up the rear part of the frame.

So I figured I might as well dive in and pull the cab and get it cleaned up real nice.
Also got the cab windows out and will be building some kind of Rotisserie

I just want this thing reliable mechanically, and preserved & protected.

I decided to pull the engine and do the front end swap to the complete front end with 8-lug discs that I bought last winter.

Yes, I know... Since I have everything tore off, now would be a good time to sandblast everything. But I'm just going to rustoleum the frame for now.

Once I have the frame painted, I'll put the motor back in.
Then I'll start patching my cab.
I'll epoxy the cab as I get areas stripped and repaired.

I guess instead of calling this my 'Build' thread, I should of called it my 'Work on in spurts' thread.
