Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
A lot has happened since my last post. I got the transmission controller in and ready and tested. I got the brakes in and plumbed and bled. I got most of the wiring done "thank god for painless wiring harnesses". Some how it seems that I lost the steering column retaining bracket. So i'm hunting one of them now.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
It's been a long wait to get back at it. I keep getting other projects though. I just bought a 68 GTX 440 auto super commander.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
These are my most recent pics, I love my long bed! How far have you gotten on yours? I just found your thread but I see you haven't put up any pics recently! I met another guy in Allen tx off here with a long bed. Can't wait to get done , meet at a track. If there is anything mid distance between us.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Addco rear bar from cpp. I like it so far. I did covert mine to a short bed though.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
No way! Everyone has a short bed, I want something different. I want to prove my long bed can perform and IMO look better doing it than a short bed!

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
I've done everything to make my truck lighter and to handle better. I think it's cool what your doing. Keep it up and good luck. Maybe we can meet up when were finished.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
I'll be posting more pictures soon. I've been very busy lately and it's time to get busy on the Bruiser. Just got my rack and pinion ordered from no limit. Working on the interior this week. Pictures to follow.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
It is a 6" cowl and yes it's fiberglass but it is functional!
Hellz ya! I cant wait, of course mine wont have rack and pinion :'( 5 kids ate that for me,hell I'm happy God blessed me with a good enough job to have a truck period! They have a cruise in up here every Friday night, those old guys make me sick with their high dollar blowers, super bees, chevelle's..... then putter out the lot like my grandmother! Don't they know us young guys can only dream of that stuff? SHOW US WHAT THEY WILL REALLY DO!!! These guy's have more in their motors than I have in my truck! Although they probably couldn't get around an autocross track as fast as my wife's 4popper cobalt, those cars are AWESOME! |

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Nice! I cut one down a while back. Turned out pretty good for my first time! I like the mods your making! Seems like I read an article about rack and pinion steering, where they fabbed one from a newer vehicle and saved $$$$!

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
I was busy with building the shop this time home but I did work on the sound deadening and the fuel filler in the bed. I will post pictures when I get to get back on it.

Will be installing the no-limit steering rack sat. I can't wait to get the steering done.

I got the rack in and truck is running. Need to get the interior sorted and tighten up the wiring under the hood. Pics to come.
