Re: What a mess just look at this.

You nailed the wheelbase!! Nice job!

That thing was so messed up when you got it. What did you use as a basis for establishing the wheelbase? There's a bunch of tricks you can do, but alot of them depends on having a good measurement to start from.

Like we say in aerospace, measure 3 times, say a prayer, then fire up the cutoff wheel and make sparks .

Thanks man

Before I cut the clip off I put the sheetmetal back on and discovered the wheelbase was different on each side. I liked how the wheels looked on the passenger side so I used that side for my measurements.

I tacked it in I put the sheetmetal back on to make sure I still liked how the wheels looked in the wheel well. After that I welded it back together.

I still think the owner should have made the guy that butchered the frame, come over to take a look-see on how a properly installed clip looks.

Re: What a mess just look at this.

Update: We got the engine and transmission installed and everything is looking good. He is running a 383 stroker with a 700r4. I was not suppose to be installing the engine but every time I go visit he is working so I end up helping. I need to stop visiting and I told him so.lol

Maybe thats what "some of us need" a gentle push and a shove to get our butts in gear!

I need that sometimes myself. I'm cool once I go to the garage, I just need a gentle push to go out the back door to get there.lol

Re: What a mess just look at this.

Well the front sheetmetal is back on. I think the truck should be a little lower, but the owner loves it at this ride height. He told me he change the springs to get it this high and this is where he wants it. Well I think he should put the original springs back on but case closed for now but I will work on him a little more in the future.lol

I will wait to see it with the hood, grill and bumper on before I start in on him again.

Yeah, I don't know what he is scared of he likes everything a little high. This is his also and as you can see its a little too high, but its a beautiful car. He is a really good painter. This is a backyard paint job. My camera does not do justice to the paint. The color is actually purple and silver. It looks blue in the pic.
I wish he put some drop spindle on her. On the truck he can just put the stock springs back on and it will be fine.
