Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
I'd say! I knew it was all busted up because it rattled and buzzed. Then one day it just stopped making noise. I though the speaker finally died but I guess it was the radio.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
I just took the radio out of my truck. Let me tell you.. Wear some thick leather gloves. When these trucks were made the metal was never meant for hands near it.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
So I went to the j-yard and found a recent arrival of a 77 custom Deluxe 350. Snagged the carb with the correct numbers that's identical to mine. I figured I would rebuild it to swap over while I rebuild my original. Then ill have a good to go spare! Mine was stamped on the 186th day of 77 and this one is the 35th day of 77.

That's cool. These old carbs can be hard to find sometimes.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Time to start rebuilding the new/old carb I picked up. This will be my first time so i'm a little hesitant. The rebuild kit did come with instructions and a pretty good exploded view so I should be good. Not to mention all the YouTube vids out there on it.. First things first, I need to get those parts and pieces cleaned up!

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
More on the carb rebuild. I decided to cold weld the potential leaking spots before I begin. This stuff will stink up the house and piss off your wife! WARNING lol. I cleaned up the plastic skid plate for the gas tank and painted it too. Ill get some stainless hardware and get that back on in the next day or two.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Take your time and go slow. I've done it a few times and it wasn't too terribly hard. You'll be fine.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Forgot to post a pic of the gas tank skid plate. Also got the carb almost all finished. That was fun! .......aaaaaand that statement may change when it doesn't run right. Drove up to the local chicken shack and had lunch this past weekend. That called for a photo shoot.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Also scored some light blue Silverado panels that I believe i can refurbish. Snagged the hard to find grille trim off a 77-79 Silverado too. Anyone know the value of the trim?

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Haven't had chicken from Ted's in a long time. I remember when they were in a little shack off of S.Main. Chicken was better then I always thought. Skid plate looks good and the parts score looks good. Did you see any '73-'76 doors in good shape while you were there? I'm in need of doors off a '73-'76. I don't like the later door panels, lol.

Yeah there's about 15 or so squares in there. Some good doors too, not sure if original though. PM me and I'll tell ya where.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
mike, you will need the 100" speedometer cable. pepboys, oriley and autozone are all like $13-15 and they will probably have to order them. rockauto has them for like $9-11.
