Running Gear:
Twin turbo'd 350 (383) built by someone who knows how to do it right; 6-speed manual. 373's in the back. 3 inch s/s exhaust all the way back.
Polish the serp belt system.V/A shiny pulleys. While we're at it, hiding the fuse block lower in the firewall would be sweet. Gloss black powder coated steering
column, clutch and shifting linkage on the firewall side. Also, while we're at it, the bellhousing could use some black powder coating, too.

Pretty deeply dished (lip polished) 17" or 18" five-spoke American mags about 10" all around. Maybe 12 in the back. Tires with sidewall meat on them. Especially
the back. Tub the rear bed.

Suspension's all done. But a few changes:
Disks in back. C-notch with bags. Air system. Don't need to lay out. But I want some load adjustment...It's all free, right?

Accessories:
Hide the V/A hoses. Shiny, new big- a** alternator. Black powder coated hydro boost. 20 gal saddle gas tank between the frame rails about mid-way between the
cab and bed... with the filler in the stock spot. Electric adjustable side mirrors that look like peeps. Electric door locs. Stock handles, but a "popper" just for fun.

Body:
Real wood bed. Kind of silvery-dark wood finish with polished s/s runners. Gloss black paint on the bed and tubs w/stainless hardware and a couple of "smallish"
old-school pinstripe designs on the tubs.. Muted ghost flames in the silver paint on the hood, front fenders and doors, with some black accents (somewhere) to pull
it all together.

How's that?

I love how my truck was originally equipped so would go full restoration with period-correct big block. About the only mods I would have would be a nice static drop and maybe a gear vendors overdrive.

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

Ok, I'll bite. My 68 is already heading towards the finish line, at least in the 1.0 configuration so I'll skip right on to my next project truck.
I would probably buy one of those $20,000 full on race car type chassis for my 63 GMC and send it to one of the super high end hot rod shops and have them build a low slung bruiser. Capable of winning at the autocross events, cruising cross country to the Drag week events, all while spinning huge twin turbos.

Might as well update this: A 4L60E is now swapped in. Close enough.

I'd add a really nice under-bed fuel tank conversion, probably with a flip-down license plate filler, to my wish list.

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

If I had the money...

Not sure I'd do anything different than the current plan...the process would just be faster!

Current plan:

1) 2/4 drop, discs up front
2) Brake booster
3) Tilt
4) Reduced dia. steering wheel (I liked the recent thread on doing that to an original wheel).
5) Posi
6) Tunes (modern radio, speaker, etc.)
7) HEI (MSD probably)

If money were no object, probably convert metal-floor bed to wood insert. Still waffling on that, I like the metal bed too.

Might upgrade the exhaust to stainless, Magnaflow or Borla.

We (Miz Diane and I) have discussed going to something like the MSD EFI...but current Q-Jet is fine. Also discussed moving the tank outta the cab but no decision there either.

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

With enough money, the possibilities are endless...

I'm getting there, got a good engine and air ride so far.

My wish list would be:
6 speed manual
posi rear
rear disc brakes
hydraulic e-brake
step notched frame to lay it out
and maybe a turbo? Maybe some day...

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

I'd fulfill my obsession to drop a Benz Sprinter van diesel engine and transmission in the '70 C10. The truck itself would get freshened up, nice and clean, stock-looking inside and out- but that Benz oil burner under the hood. Maybe a Benz hood ornament, just to mess with people's heads.

Turn my long bed GMC C20 into a "medium bed" (half way between short and long).Slammed, bagged, all wheel drive with a Twin Turbo Cummings.
4-5" dual exhaust exiting through bedsides in front of the rear wheels. 22" Delmo wheels. Hidden cooler in bed floor for my frosty beverages. Hot Rod Flats gunmetal grey metalic paint above the trim, HRF metalic black below. Black n Yellow CA plate reading "FUPRIUS".

Find & buy a good 67-72 short fleet unmolested survivor to keep my long step company and start the whole process over again...oh and a nice airconditioned 4 car garage to work in.

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

Basically this is the current plan. Less the Cheyenne, and not sure about a drop:

But I'm reconsidering this and selling my moldings. This would be about 85% the cost, save a lot of headache, and damn is it pretty. I really like the idea being original, and this is my original paint scheme. I like how he added the tail moldings.

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

I would do whatever I could to make my truck as factory correct as possible. No lowering, no modern stuff. Just every single thing being the same as when it rolled out of the factory. I'd love to do that!!

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

Buy a truck..... I'm thinking a nice 72 k20 with a 6.0 and a nv4500 supercharge the 6.0 and all performance internals, dual exhaust, chip, ram air, all that jazz. A nice white/med blue/white/med blue 4 inch lift and 33s on some white 16" steelies with original caps, 4 gas tanks(behind seat, saddle, and under bed), twin stick t-case, pto w/winch, hidden winch in bumper, bedside tool box, vintage tool box in bed, hidden hitch, step rear bumper, super cheyenne trim, ac, 4.10 gears, sun roof, nice stereo system, heated seats, power steering, secret gun rack behind the seat, pistol box under the pass. seat, buckets with console, Dana 60 front, Corp 14 bolt rear, make it decent gas mileage, make it pull a house, overload springs, (sorry no real order here, just saying what comes to mind) disc brakes all the way around, drive shaft e brake, line-x the bed, undercoat the frame and underside of the body, make it pretty much rust proof, hid headlights, some hidden rigid industries dually d2 lights, some hidden in bed ramps for loading the gator, hidden tail gate latch, sliding rear window, power locks and windows, I'm sure there is more! But that is my dream truck!

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

Hmmm I would drive it for awhile still then finally
have it stripped down to the frame, frame powder coated
Airbag suspension reinforce chassis throughout for engine and tranny upgrade
Upgrade all a-arms, sway bar, etc
Repair minor spots of cancer throughout truck cause I'm sure it's somewhere lol
GM 402 BB or a 572 carb engine
18" or 20" wheels and tires haven't decided still
Lol the list goes on and on like everybody else's

LS9, 4l80E, full hotchkis TVS suspension and Brembo brakes up front. Then the usual body work with two tone black and gunmetal paint.
